Every human being is has the need to be around other human beings, be it friends, family. Urbanization has occurred over the years due to man realizing that he will not survive without the help of others. As crime goes, the fear of being pinched or killed has led to the creation of gangs, who rely on each other to survive.

GTAForums has seen its fair share of gang activity over the years. Clans, teams, crews, battle it out to gain respect for their skills. Players have enjoyed the benefit of always having someone to cover them, but the real question is...

How far can you go when your buddies ain't there?

The 2012 GTAForums 1v1 Cup unites those who think they can reach the top without the help of others, in a quest to find GTAForums' best single shooter. As the name states, games will be one versus one, so that each player can push himself to the limit without the need of external assistance, only their own two hands and their weapon of choice.

Cup Structure

16 players (if possible, 32) will be randomly split into four groups of four players which will start the round-robin stage of the cup. These players will have three months to face the other three players of their group to gain points and advance into the knockout stage.

In a match, 2 games will be held, one game for each player's settings. (Read "Settings"). If a player wins both matches, he will get three points, the loser will not gain any points. If there is a 1-1 draw, both players receive one points. At the end of the match, a screenshot of the score MUST be posted in this thread.

The winner of each group is the one who finishes the round-robin with the most points. If there is a tie between two players in the number of points, point differential will decide who goes on, that's why landslide victories are important in the group stage.

The winner and runner-up of each group will advance into the quarter-finals. The winner of a group will face the runner-up of the next group (e.g. Winner Group A vs Runner-Up Group B, Runner-Up A vs Winner B and so on...)

These games will be composed of two matches, once again, one match with each player's setting. If there is a 1-1 draw, both competitors will compete in a third and final match with the following settings:

Auto-Aim: OFF
Police: OFF
Location: Colony Island
Weapons: Pistols
No Vehicles

All other settings may be manipulated as long as both parties agree on it. If the match does not take place in these settings, both parties will be removed from the tournament.

Match Deadlines

So that the cup is not delayed, deadlines are created for each stage of the tournament.

Deadline to sign-up: January 31st, 2012

Round-Robin groups draw: February 1st, 2012
Round-Robin start: (When groups are announced)
Deadline to finish Round-Robin games (three opponents): February 29th, 2012

Start of the Quarter-Finals March 15th, 2012
Deadline to finish Quarter-Final matches: March 31st, 2012

Semi-Finals Start: April 1st, 20, 2012
Deadline for Semi-Finals: April 10th, 2012

Final (TBA)
-If a match does not happen until the deadline is through, both parties will get one week of grace to finish the matches, otherwise actions will be taken and may lead to both parties being disqualified.
-If one competitor shows interest in a match but the other does not, the former may advance into the next round or gain a 2-0 win.

Rules

-If a player is accused of having a turbo-charged controller or any other type of modification to improve their gaming skill, this person shall be disqualified and all of their previous matches will be counted as 2-0 losses. All accusations will be looked over.
-Spectating is allowed if the spectator is not involved in the game, be it by letting a player shoot them to increase their score, or by giving information on one competitor to the other competitor. Any and all accusations of a biased spectator will lead to both parties being given a week to reschedule the match.
-If a player doesn't make it after 30 minutes of the scheduled match time, the competitor who showed up will win with a 2-0 victory if there is proof that the former scheduled the match.
