Which plane is the Rustler based of?
I know it's based of a World War II Plane but which one?
I am wondering that for ages...
Which plane is exactly, Is it
North American P-51 Mustang (Early Version)?
Click!
Or Messerschmitt Bf-109?
Picture too Large so Click Here.
Or The Hawker Hurricane?
Click.

Or the Supermarine Spitfire

Click.

I think The Spitfire is (If we ignore the colour), but it's still unclear to me...
Here is picture of a rustler :

lil weasel, The Rustler @ GTA Wikia doesn't help much, says it's just the WWII Fighter Plane nothing more, and other page is clearing it up, but not more,

Anyways, GTA Phreak, Warhawk doesn't look like Rustler to me, only thing they share is the cockpit.

A real question is does a Cartoon Drawing of a Plane have to more than a generic presentation?
The concept of an artist's mind?

The distinguishing feature is the round air intake under the nose.

It's obviously a P-40 Warhawk. It's not a P-40D/E Kittyhawk, because Kittyhawk had a slightly different cockpit. The fuselage of the P-40D/E is also slightly different, but that's a much more subtle difference.

Same for pretty much other variations, like the Tomahawk II. It has to be the original P-40 Warhawk.

lil weasel, there are quite a few vehicles and aircraft in GTA that are almost carbon copies of real world vehicles. Rustler is one of these. This isn't a case of artist having in mind a generic WWII plane. It is a case of the artist having an actual picture of a P-40 in front of him, and building a model from that.

Like I said, "vehicles and aircraft in GTA that are almost Cartoon copies ".
It's almost fascinating the way people find it necessary to assign Real items to Cartoons, including the characters.

But if the development team had an actual model of that particular aircraft K2 mentioned it would be assigning cartoons to real items. Which means they are two of the same thing, one exists in model form, the other in digital form.

They aren't "cartoon copies", though. They are fairly precise models for the most part. The dimensions are correct. If you build a replica from GTA model, put an engine on it, and look after weight distribution, it will fly correctly. That's not a cartoon.

It doesn't look like a Spitfire at all.
The distinguishing feature of a Spitfire is the elliptical wing, so if you model something ("cartoonish" or not) on the Spitfire it would have an elliptical wing.
Similarly the distinguishing feature on a P-40 is the round airscoop, the Rustler has that, so the Rustler is without a doubt modelled on the P-40.
