Early History The Shinodo-Gumi Family was founded by Harukitchi Shinodo in Tokyo, Japan, 1918. Harukitchi was born in the 1800s to a descendant of a Samurai daimyo. Toshiro Shinodo was his father. His mother, Fumaki Shinodo, was the daughter of a wealthy kimono maker. One night, however, Harukitchi’s family were destroyed by the leader of a local, but small, Yakuza clan, Boss Yamamoto, all because of the As Harukitchi, the age of 8, he hid, watching as his father held of three yakuza who attacked relentlessly. Toshiro thrust punches and kicks with killing force skill in all directions, the yakuza falling to the ground, bloodied with gruesome wounds. His victory over the yakuza came to an almost sudden stop as Boss Yamamoto gripped the hilt of Toshiro’s ancestral katana and slashed the back of its owner, falling to his knees, his last sight was that of his horrified son as the point of the katana was thrust through the back of his throat, blood erupting before him before the blade cut through his neck, his head falling to the ground. The screams of Fumaki still echo through the alleys of Tokyo as she was through atop her bed, as if to be raped. The lieutenant of Yamamoto handed him his own wakizashi. He laughed horrifically as he plunged the short sword through her abdomen, impaling her upon the bed as her dying breath was that of Harukitchi’s name. As the yakuza left the house, Yamamoto poured sake over the Shinto alter to Toshiro’s ancestors, before leaving, he dropped the burning end of his cigar, flames erupting.
12 years passed as Harukitchi was now an adult. The time to avenge the deaths of his respectable parents was now as he retraced his steps back to the ruins of his old house, the voices of his parents still breezing through his mind. Learning from an old family friend that his father’s katana was taken as an act of disrespect and that Yamamoto was still alive, he joined his still tiny group. During the next two years, Harukitchi flew through the ranks, becoming the saiko-komon, Yamamoto’s adviser. The day of the full moon, Harukitchi written a poem on a white silk kimono belonging to Yamamoto. The poem was tought to him by his paternal grandfather, who was a samurai, Hatsumoto Shinodo. After he gracefully painted the poem on the silk, he placed it on the desk of Yamamoto, who recognised it as a death poem, and recognised the face of Toshiro in Harukitchi’s own., as he made for his pistol, Harukitchi plunged a pen into Yamamoto’s neck, twisted and ripping open his neck. He watched in satisfaction as Yamamoto twitched as his life ebbed away.
Eleven years passed, Harukitchi becoming one of Japans most respected…and feared Yakuza bosses. Creating the Shinodo Gumi and becoming highly proficient in bushido, way of the warrior, he pulled the Shinodo Gumi out of the slums of the local gangsters, shaking down local merchants, being common hoods. No, Harukitchi made this organisation a well respected group. Turning it into a gargantuan crime federation, Harukitchi’s list of enemies began to dwindle. During the start of World War 2, the Shinodo Gumi’s membership began to shrink as they were conscripted into the army. At the end of the War, the Shinodo Gumi was a small group of old men, holding onto ancient values. The son of Harukitchi, Kenichi, dragged the decrepit yakuza out of the pit of ill fate and back into the high mountains of honour.
During Harukitchi’s 76th birthday, he was assassinated by the enforcer of Kenji Manasuki, the Oyabun of the Manasuki-Gumi clan, a highly ruthless band of yakuza. Kenichi, now, the boss of all bosses, arranged for Kenji and his entire clan to gather with Kenichi in a restaurant for a treaty signing, still grieving his father, who was shot at point blank range. As Kenji and his two hundred member clan entered the empty restaurant, he was met by the face of Kenichi and the sound of gunfire. His entire crime family was struck down in the matter of ten minutes, each body riddled with bullet holes. Kenichi drew his katana, which he carried to every formal gathering, walking over to the severely wounded crime lord and decapitated him without a moments breath. The restaurant, redesigned in blood, was burned down. Kenichi, as boss of all bosses, ordered that any member of any of that yakuza clans to mention the name of Kenji, would exact the same fate, along with their clan.Recent HistoryNow, the Shinodo Gumi has grown into a an incredibly wealthy crime syndicate. Bringing in money from illegal and legal ways. The Shinodo Gumi’s headquarters are in Tokyo, Japan but it operates in Europe and America also.
Kenichi, still the boss of bosses, has had a son, Akira, who leads the Shinodo Gumi in America. In America, Akira is falling in the standards of the Yakuza federation, other gangs encroach of the Shinodo territory.
As low hoodlums burst over the territory of the Shinodo Gumi, Kenichi’s views of his son are beginning to fall in standards as well. Many gangs in Liberty City have heard stories of the ruthless bogeyman back in Japan, so much in fact that they begin to leave the City, especially when they hear tell of him coming to America to set his son straight and advise the family.HierarchyOyabun or Kumicho - The Oyabun is the supreme godfather. over the moon's pure light and the mists that cloud our mind, do thou sweep away as well.
Now we disappear, well, what must we think of it? From the sky we came.
Now we may go back again.
