@Oyster Barron, shame for you that you lack the attention span required for board games, they are fun, challenging and a great social experience, board games are pretty much real life versions of the strategy games found on PC, though they they are more simplistic, it doesn't mean they require less strategy or are any less fun.
You may dislike board games due to lack of attention span, but flaming the sh*t out of people who do like them (For reasons mentioned above) is simply ignorant.

Lol i was attempting to be funny. But like my grandad said who died of aztimers if your gunna fail at something you may as well fail miserably. Personally i do play board games now and then but they get highly repetative the 12th time they relaunch mousetrap or monopoly. Im now the proud owner of civ5 and i must admit this is much better than those ive played previously. Played the demo and was getting well into it then it ended so i brought it c u in ten years.

On topic to be honest it really just sounds like he sucked at playing Civilization. I mean for christ sake someone else on Reddit conquered the map in 58 years while it took him 1700 just to get to that point. No lie I'm not that the best Civilization player either but this is just insane. In fact I can't believe it's gotten so much attention really. Great he kept playing the game for a long time. I've been playing the same copy of Civ 4 for half a decade now, and the same copy of Sim City for ages as well.

To be fair, his objective was trying to terraform the world and make it inhabitable again. Just because he's no military strategist, doesn't mean he's bad at the game. Quite frankly I think it's impressive that he's survived that far.

I think attention is more on the time frame and course of events it shows then the skill involved.
