Free service? Sure, it's free to request, it's also my obligation and free will to ask for payment for difficult projects, is it not? Before you jump on me or have an issue with me, perhaps make a guideline that projects simple requests and not time-consuming requests.

If people want to charge, that's fine. It would be hard around these parts but that doesn't mean it always has to be a few service if the person requesting is interested in throwing a few bucks down. This is a community forum, not a workplace. You're not working as a private contractor creating graphics in a commercially-regulated marketplace; this is a forum provided free-of-charge to members who, by virtue of membership and as stipulated in the rules of the forum, have an equal placement, within discretion as exercised by the moderators and administrators. I'm the furthest thing from a socialist, so your (rather ingenuous, I'll have to agree) attempt at free enterprise in an attempt to make money is certainly not an issue with me; I, and I think others who may be in opposition to what you're doing, are a little bit frosty over the fact that someone who has been a member of the community for fewer than two months is already soliciting payment for graphics requests, when such an act was completely unheard of previously, given that this was just a simple section for people to come in, post a request and, by virtue of communal assistance, receive a graciously designed graphic by another member. What you're doing is not technically illegal as per the rules of the forum (unless one were to stipulate that what you're doing is a blatant form of advertising, in which case you'd be summarily banned), but, from one capitalist to another, I think that you should use some discretion given the nature of this forum.

Then perhaps you should reevaluate the terms. I've already had acouple projects through PM. Without me asking for payment..

As far as asking for payment, no-one asked for payment. I simply said I'm willing to do it but not for free. No need to ask for payment for gang headers and turf maps.. who actually puts 100% effort into those anyways? We make our money through other websites, (Which we don't advertise), but when someone wants a project that consuming, I think any artist would be like, 'Either I'm not doing that just for the hell of it, or without some due payment or favor.'

We understand free, we also understand there is nothing stating that we can't ask for payment, when overall, it's up to the consumer or client to say whether he'll pay or not. Where's the wrong in that? It's the first time money was every mentioned here other than the fact of my $15 remove watermark remark I've made to Tech9 as a joke because of his everyday requests.

There's alot going wrong in this, 'section', that needs to be tended too.. The shepherd must attend it's flock sometimes. Requests are out of hand, Size limits are out of hand, the amount of work wanted is out of hand. Yet topics such as these get a stearn disliking to or gets rapid attention. But before you say, 'then avoid topics of this nature', Just feel me out on this.

Go back, read what was written.. then reply. I did not blatantly ask that he pay, I only inquired that it's something that I would not do for free, nor would some of the other decent graphic artists. Even, blitz, knew what he was asking as she stated in her post, not money wise, but she knew the job is something that any normal joe wouldn't take on without something.

Again, just set up some real guidelines.. So and so should not be requested here, Be reasonable about your requests, Don't whine or bump within 2 hours, Don't ask for something that takes longer than acouple hours without expecting a payment request, If you post 3-4 request topics within the same day, you will receive a warning and possible temporary ban (after these fellers get "locked") and still do it.

Sure, we've been here less than a month or alittle over, but we've put in alot of work and help here in this section. I think we deserve abit more than an angry reply or finger-lashing every other topic. There are others who need to be aware before you balk at the designers themselves.

Eh.. it's pointless trying to get anything done around here.. Just ignore this little rant or what have you. Good day.. and again, Shiva. Sorry.. more than welcome to create a new topic.

If you have a price on your head then keep it for yourself, I respect you and anyone that puts hours of work in this section, but this is GTAForums offering a service to our members, a service that will remain free until Tank wants it otherwise.
Even if there are allot of wrong things in this section you should learn to live along with them, I don't understand how can we even discuss about money when most of the work is lvl 3-4 on a scale from 1 to 10.
If you think you have skills that don't deserve to be wasted in this section then you should get a job in this line of work.
I work at a graphic studio, do request and take care of this section (should I even mention my pm inbox?) and I still don't complain, that's because I do it with pleasure.

Not everyone looks at things with pleasure. But I'm done arguing, but I do agree on the Level 3-4. I've only been in Graphics for alittle over a month.. and I've made some money for some projects, nothing entirely major, but icons, some websites.. I do intend to make something out of it, not a career, but a means of an extra income. I don't look at everyone on here as means of money, just his request was a request we saw potential to do our best work and to profit from it, making him happy and us happy.

Don't have the time to devote to graphics as much as some, as I own my own business, deal with a child and an energetic girlfriend. Some day though, I live about 20mins from SCAD, so I'm actually saving money to attend there in the near future. To futher myself in not only graphic design but other areas of design and art. So I guess once you've put enough time into Graphics, then sure.. you may look at this as pleasure. There's no sense in us all arguing over this though, we all enjoy visiting the forums and doing what we can, I just stated I couldn't do this extended request for free.

Haha it doesn't work that way, everyone has potential. Just because someone didn't do doesn't mean someone could not have done it at all.

We can talk more about stuff like this in a pm, would be an interesting subject to talk about.
