If there were an actual GTAV marketing team (and I don't think there is), it seems to me that there would be people on that team just bursting with ideas for GTAV game publicity. They would have so much enthusiasm and so many ideas, that it could not be contained - we would be seeing regular PR releases during all these empty months. They could even use material that is beta, or just exercises or experiments; it would all look good. They could limit themselves to material that was already shown in the GTAV Trailer, just back it up with some entertaining and informative background info and a dose of Rockstar humor. Anyway, the lack of such activity, and the WTF Epsilon crap, is causing serious consternation and concern (for me). I just don't get it Maybe there should even be a topic on this GTAV forum for "What Rockstar GTAV marketing would do, if they existed" where people could suggest creative PR ideas -- i.e. specially themed trailers, multiple themed releases of ad copy plus a number of related, interesting screenshots (as opposed to a couple of random screenshots tossed out without context), a GTAV Garage theme, the Weapons of GTAV, The Almighty Dollar in GTAV, all kinds of stuff.

Why? You probably owe them for pirating their games at some point. |
But the FACTS are that R* released a trailer for the game 9 months ago and there are only so many reasons why such a long wait.
1. They used GTA V for PR towards MP3
2. They used the announcements to revive their stocks ] 3. They intended on releasing the game much sooner but had MAJOR set backs
4. They never intended on releasing the game in 2012. |
They're not facts, they're speculations. |
ONE of those has to be true. And as I said the only one that isnt a dick move is #3 |
I would say #2 is ruled out, the increase on stocks was pretty short-lived so doing that was moot. Besides which they don't seem concerned about low stock prices in-between games, and they shouldn't be. I propose another option. - They only released the trailer to please the fans who were for the most part patiently waiting and weren't going to release information until after Max Payne 3. I do agree with what someone said about them releasing information on what stage the game is at, wouldn't really ruin the magic and would give us something, but it would give competitors the jump on what they were doing, probably doesn't really matter if they know though..

Yeah, I'd suggest that they had a Timeline on their website regarding more info.
Something like
Nov - Lauch Trailer July 2012 - Some Info Oct 2012 - More info Dec 2012- More info Feb 2013 - More Info May 2013 - More info August 2013 - More Info October 2013 - Game Release
Something of that sort, would allow us to come online, together, wait for the info to be released, then discuss it.
I don't see how that could kill any hype, It would just make life eaiser for fans with limited time.
The forums would remain the same, we'd probably see more topics like "What do you think will be release on Dec 2012?" etc etc | October 2013 is way to late for the game to Release, March - May 2013 is a good and reasonable time.

honestly im just glad that the game was announced, at least now i know that im not waiting for something that may or not happend, now is just about waiting and that has always been the case with Rockstar and its games, so i don't see why so many people are bitching about no new info, patience is a virtue not found on most ppl on the internet it seems, oh well that's the reason i don't really post that much on the forums anymore since i rather wait until Rockstar releases some info that just seeing the amount of post from people that don't know how to wait, Rockstar has always spend as much time as needed with their game and hey, i will take quantity over quantity everytime even if it means i'll have to wait a ton more, it will come out, sooner or later, and now we know that it's officialy coming, so there's really nothing to bitch about

| QUOTE (ThisIsHorosho @ Monday, Aug 6 2012, 06:42) | | If i was Duke Nukem fan, i'd probably hung myself up if i knew i had to wait 10+ years just to find out that game is being canceled and picked by a company that know nothing about Duke Nukem...imagine how DN fans feel, when you compare situation around GTAV and maybe....just maybe it'd ease your minds... |
Good point and good (painful) example; DN was a terrible disappointment, multiplied by the number of years it was AWOL. Based on the reviews, I never bothered to get DN, after waiting with great hope all those years. What a letdown.... So I think I will withhold easing my mind until the whole GTAV cycle plays out. If a property with as much of a following and as much promise as Duke Nukem can do a faceplant after 10 years, it's not inconceivable that GTAV can similarly bomb after 6 or 7 or 8 years (though I still hold hope that this cannot possibly happen). If the competence of the GTAV marketing is any indication of the competence of the GTAV game design, it's looking pretty iffy....
