I would love to see another ww2 game. COD big red one and call of duty 3 were great in my opinion, and of course you can't forget the great Medal of Honor games especially Frontline. Could you imagine the D-Day level on that game with the technology that we have today. It would be amazing.
since someone mentioned it, I don't think it would be hard to make an exciting WW1 game.
the problem is that no one has really ever tried. at the very least there's been no serious attempt by a large/reputable production studio. there' some WW1-themed mods.
but no serious attempts at a complete game by a major studio.
Shame the old CoD's don't support widescreen decently... else I'd still be playing them. Brilliant games they were... especially with the f*cking awesome United Offensive expansion. Treyarch (Grey Matter back in the day) were brilliant.
And yes a decent new BF game set in/during WWII with the new frostbite engine... oh a man can dream. Same for a Vietnam shooter.

El_Diablo: Check out Darkest of Days, it includes WW1 and the American Civil war. The actual game is not that good, but the WW1 missions were pretty good.
lol at 6:24 ZA STALINA!!! ..fail.. Never noticed that.
Remix: Indie game, will take time. And won't be as good as a game with a big budget.

I have searched before. but it's not like I search every day. never heard of The Trench until now.
it's looking pretty awesome though for just pre-alpha. if they do it right then that could certainly be the first great WW1 game.

I've heard of Darkest of Days, but I heard that it wasn't a true WW1 game.
it's apparently half WW1 and half Civil War. and even then it's not accurate.
Darkest of Days is a science fiction game right? you might be fighting in WW1 but you get modern day machine guns and assault rifles.
I've always loved WWII games - the fact that it actually happened makes the game scenarios seem more plausible as opposed to games like MW3. Medal Of Honor was my favourite fps series during the ps2 days and I especially loved Rising Sun - 4-player split screen was the shiz! IMO, the sudden surge of relatively more "modern" games these past few years was most likely brought about by the large amount of WWII games at the time; now that there are too many "modern" shooters, I think it would be very appropriate to bring about a new WWII game so as to keep FPS' more varied and not just "modern" this, and "modern that."
Plus, I miss the M1 Garands and the Thompsons damnit!
Seriously, pretty much every single WW2 game since 98 has had a scene out of Saving Private Ryan. Seriously, its some sort of law to have a scene in there; whether its storming the beach at Normandy or running through a destroyed village or shooting up the Axis in a field.
Haha it seems that way. The opening mission Storm the beach on MOH: frontline is exactly that. It is still fun gameplay though. I have to say COD: 3 is my favorite WWII themed shoot em up even though it's starting to show it's age. Hands down COD: World at War has the best online gameplay.
