| What do you think sivi? The future of filehosting: How to fix the copyright issues? |
Oron are Swiss, not Russian. Ergo, they actually fall under the remit of the DMCA. We aren't going to lose filehosts- all that will happen is they will transition to countries where they are untouchable. Some of the fastest growing hosts are centred in Russia and the Ukraine, where the respective government have absolutely no interest in shutting down these very lucrative businesses. China is already a centre for espionage and copyright theft, so we'll probably see more English-language Chinese filehosts.
I don't think the issue is ever going to be properly resolved in the Western sphere purely because its far easier for companies to move their operations to nations where they are essentially untouchable, and can be funded in quiet comfort through non-US/European sources than it is for them to actually enter any kind of discussion with the copyright media hounds.
