I just remembered it was announced that GTAV was now officially in "full development" back in November 2 2011.

Full development usually takes 2 years for a videogame. That would mean that they just now started to make it.

From the trailer it seemed pretty finished but what do we really know...

They could have lied to us as well and it is almost done but they just wanted to say "Full development" to make it seem like it didn't exist prior.

I don't know if you guys keep up with Final Fantasy XIII Versus but that game has been in full development for 2-4 years and hasn't come out yet.

So....will the same happen to GTAV? Is the reason that we have no new info/trailer because they just started working on it?

A little concerned about this, that's all. It came across my mind just now and I'd really like other peoples input.

They said it was "officialy" on full development, meaning that it was already in development, only they were super secret about it.

In my opinion i think they finished the map and locations and stuff in september '11 and started getting the voice actors and making the story in october.

I'm sure the game was at lease 60%-70% finished when they released the trailer. It's just a way of them saying "we're ready to announce the game now." Besides, they said "is in full development" not 'we just started developing", it could have been in development for 4 years and their statement would still be true.

Well, apparently GTA V was being made before IV's release but I'm not that really sure about that. Although, I do believe this game is most likely finished. Rockstar Games just want Max Payne 3 out there first..

Yes i am sure the game is two years away meaning Rockstar released a trailer 2 years early.

Did you even watch the trailer? Obviously it was not 2 years away from completion.

IMO GTA V's proper development started in 2010 or even 2009. I'd say they were the majority of the way done when the trailer came out.

They're probably in the touching up stage.

They don't need that much time as for GTA IV in my opinion, because RAGE engine is given, lots of LA files and textures are given, so it can even be released this year.

I think development started soon after GTA IV but in GTA V's first trailer, they showed a nice amount

I've heard that in some Bonus Round episode on gametrailers. Mister notorious (Michael Pachter) said that people from micro$oft told him that Rockstar has been working on GTA V since 2007.

Rockstar never use pre renders. Plus how would all those la setting leaks have come out if they werent in development for at least a year.

Of course the game was in full development long before we even knew about it...

I can't find the article back, but when S.A. was just released there was an interview with Dan telling they were already busy with writing the story for GTA IV.
