Hey guys this is a so called "continuation" of my former attempted "Real NYC mod" now that I learned from my mistakes, i doing something a tad easier and on a smaller scale..... London

I estimate the map will be in between GTA IV and San Andreas size... not a massive 21 square mile map like last time.... Instead of just building as I go, I plan on laying the map out with you guys help, i.e. buildings included, locations, etc... so if there any people from the UK i'd love your help

Good on you SPOP.
Good to know that one mistake didn't make you stop doing what you love, designing maps.

Little bit of advice; don't forget to back up your files to an external HDD or to your Data drive on your computer tounge2.gif
I'm sure your aware of that now anyway.

Good luck smile.gif

Here is the first pic of the map, I placed the tallest building in the city (1017 ft.) on it to give a scale of perspective the map is about 7/6 ish square miles... a LOT smaller than the 18 sqaure miles of the NYC map though a good size larger than GTA IV becuase of the lack of islands, only major water is the river tounge.gif

just calcualted the aera of the "red" part of the map its almost exactly 1 square mile, so that can be used as a refrence for map size

The offical map size is 5.3 square miles which is rouglhy the same GTA IV, but theres much more land in london

Hey let me ask you: How long you've been using Sketchup? Cuz the New York map was just amazing and I didn't even believe at first that it was made in Sketchup. Well, good luck on this project. smile.gif

Like 3-4 years I become stupidly efficient!

I have also come up on how to realisticly but the stadiums in (as there file size could be the size of most of the other buildings put together sad.gif which point doesn't help with modeling.... my solution would be to build the stadiums seperatly that could be intergrated with the rest of the mod.

Looks good, I am from the UK so i should be able to help if you want, I'm also quite competent at Sketchup, if you would want help with buildings and such. Will the M-25 motorway be in there?
Cheers, DannyBee

You know, before starting you can make a list of buildings and landmarks (well maybe not all of them biggrin.gif) that will be in this mod before starting. smile.gif Just for people to know what kind of buildings will include in this mod. I wonder if the London's Eye will be there... And will it spin and be enterable...

Sounds good, don't make it an island though like the rest of the GTA maps, put and invisible wall there or something. Quite like the idea of dover, providing that there will be little towns and villages on the way and quite a sizeable scale M-20. Oh and the Dartford Crossing as well. On a completely other subject, do we know how to make peds and traffic yet on custom maps? There will also need to be new cars (Not saying you should make them as well), a bit like the cars on The Getaway Black Monday, one of my favourite PS2 Games. Sorry to sound a little demanding there tounge.gif

Yeah, good idea. And the red two-floor London bus would be very good. It IS one of the symbols of UK, i think...

There is a "mini" list on the second or third post, but the map will still be an island lol, and of course the london eye will be in the mod lmao, thats like the Empire State building not being in GTA IV tounge.gif, yeah there will be two airports heathrow, and the now defunct london one, both in there approximate locations in real life,

I came up with the cliffs of dover mainly becuase there just epicness written all over them!

Is just looking amazing. But the map is smaller than I thought in comparison with SA. Will be left-hand-traffic in the city? Hope that it won't.
