Do you agree that GTA V helicopter controls should be changed to something similiar to BF3's.

The pretty much the only thing I dont like is the rotating triggers are L1 and R1/ whatever xbox is, should be changed to mainly be controlled by the left and right control sticks IMO. but the bad thing about that is you cant move the camera around which some poeple like but I couldnt care less.

man i thought the controls were really bad for helicopters, especially noticeable in the ballad of gay tony mission where you haver to use that scout helicopter.

I agree with op it needs a rehaul

Especially on PC, It's impossible to use the mouse which it isn't on Bf3 for example. The only way to properly fly is with numpad which is ok but the mouse could be used in a better way sad.gif

Well i would like the BF3 style for consoles because it feels more precise, also for the PC version, but if they kept the same control layout as in GTA IV/EFLC I will be happy too.

You really want to change GTA 4's easy to use, really simple and effective helicopter controls to BF3's complicated ones?

Why!? turn.gif

After some practice I was able to easily get the hang of then get really good at the heli's in IV. I saw a lot of others that had some serious problems however. I haven't played BF3 except for the demo but from what I can tell it appears fairly more involved than IV. I don't think that's going to help to many people out as far as being able to fly properly. I think they could react a little faster however, or include an optional flight school like the Sixaxis tutorial on PS3.

I think the helicopter controls are fine.

What am I more concerned about is the type of helicopters we will get.

I want the Hydra back instead of the Annihilator and for the Hydra to be the beast helicopter, not Buzzard.

For Buzzard and Sparrow I want them to only have a small mini gun attached.

I transferred from pc to ps3 and it was big change helicopter wise

No reticule in first person made things way more difficult when shooting with the turrets that dont damage much and arent very accurate in the first place

Also on PC using the mouse to aim and shoot + the reticule made it very competitive to other choppers and making poeple rage because your ruling the sky

This post is about Gta iv not The upgraded tbogt turrets nor the ah-6

They do take practice, but they are complicated. I can fly a chopper fine in BF3, but that doesn't mean it isn't complicated.

You have to maintain your altitude, make sure you're flat and not tilting to the side, make sure you pull up and down just right, make sure your reticle is where you have to shoot, etc. I don't want to worry about doing this in a GTA game.

Keep it the same as 4, nothing was wrong with it.

I agree but im not necessarily talking about the realistic flying or the mobility of the chopper thats up to rockstar

I loved the heli controls in IV. They were pretty easy to use, yet they required skill to use effectively. BF3's controls are perfectly fine, but I prefer being able to look around. As pilot, visibility is very important.

Better Helicopter Controls -- Why put something in the game like "The Buzzard" (TBOGT) when it is so damn hard to fly that you can't even use it as an attack chopper in the first place?

R* needs to see how helicopters are done in "Just Cause 2" and copy their control scheme:

Left and Right trigger = up, down (altitude)
Shoulder buttons = machine guns / rockets.
Left thumb stick = pitch and roll.
Right thumb stick = TIED TO THE CAMERA so where you look is where the helicopter flies. This is why choppers in IV are such a pain in the ass to fly; the camera is not linked to anything so you have to control the chopper with just the left thumb stick and shoulder buttons when that is COUNTER-INTUITIVE e.g. most people instinctively point the camera (right thumb stick) in the direction they want to go, but this doesn't do anything in GTA. Hence, why it is very counter-intuitive and frustrating for a lot of players...

Best way to fly the Buzzard is slowly and in cockpit view. You can't go full speed and strafing run if you wanna be fully effective. Unless you spam rockets. Then you can do that

I disagree, I like GTA IV's heli controls the most. The bumper buttons are like the pedals. maneuverability is good even in windshield camera view. I have enjoyed flying around in IV a lot as a helicopter simulator partly due to the controller scheme.

if anything changes, I hope R* adds additional options with IV's controls as one of them.

modern air speed, altitude, and heading indicators would be welcomed, esp in windshield camera view.
