Hey all i have gta 4 modded with real cars. The mods work perfectly, that's not the issue. For some reason GTAIV.exe will only use 2GB of memory even though i have 64 bit windows 7 (largeaddressaware) and, according to CFF explorer GTAIV.exe is a large address aware application (can use over 2GB of ram.) Instead, it memory leaks its way up to 2GB and then crashes. This is irritating as i have 16GB of memory. On to of that, like all modern computers vRAM can be dedicated or shared and shouldn't make a difference to the game. i have an EVGA superclocked GTX 580 with 1535MB of dedicated memory, however total available vRAM is 4094MB. for some stupid reason gta things i have 1480MB of vram.

how can i get GTAIV to use dedicated and shared vRAM addres space and how can i get the executable to use more than 2GB of ram? please help as this game is almost great except for these stupid issues (all of these memory addressing practices were standard when GTA 4 came out so logically it should support all of them especially since its a leaky mess of a memory hog)

Your card has ~1,5GB of VRAM, and GTA4 detects 1,5GB VRAM. So... what's the problem?

I think that's the total of dedicated and shared memory, which isn't really useful.

Try the commandline "-reservedApp 0" to make the game use more system ram.
