Does anyone know the actually time From beginning to end for GTA 4? I'm trying to ask what is the canon Time from when Niko arrives in Liberty City to the end of the game. If nobody knows then what do you think it would be.

According to GTA Wikia, it's possible the storyline/plot happens in less than 3 months.

I'd estimate between 3 and 6 months. I've played through it several time in a role-playing kind of way.

about 150 days dunno though press start then stats and look through the stats it will tell you how many in game days have passed :L

3 months seems about right. Funny because my first save was 100 in game days. 10 days after exactly 3 months.

On a normal playthrough around 50 game days have passed for me. For 100 days to have passed by the end, some time must pass between each mission or group of missions?

But 3 leaf clover is halfway through the story and is also the beginning of the BOGT story, but tony is already mentioning bailouts. I think this could span years or something.

The GFC did hit around 2008 when GTA IV took place though.

I'm thinking the entire GTA IV saga (including EFLC) falls during autumn 2008 which would be perfectly reasonable for a 3 month time period.

The problem with coming up with a definitive timeline is everybody's game play experience is going to be different depending on how fast, or slow they through play the game.

For example, Stevie's Car Hunts where you steal cars and sell them for money can take days (real world and game) because there are over 90 cars in the game if you want to get them all. Some people skip this part because it doesn't effect the story line, but anything Niko does in the world of LC adds to the timeline, regardless.

In real life the U.S. bank bailout was signed into law October 8, 2008 which would make it a current or recent event in the timeframe of GTA IV, if it mattered, since the GTA universe is fictional and any resemblance to reality is whatever Rockstar wants.

Since the in-game political advertising is at a high intensity level and never ends, it's reasonable to assume the election is November 4, 2008 and that canonically the story ends before then, no matter how many in-game days pass. This is not absolute since Liberty City State is fictional with unknown laws and may have runoff elections. The election might take place, be too close to call, and the candidates would continue to campaign for a runoff election on a future date.

I played through the story without losing any time (that means stealing random cars, killing random people, etc) and when I finished I had 80 in my stats days so I'd estimate that.

After completing all missions in only 15 hours, taking taxis and easily killing enemies, my stats said only 35 days passed.
