hi... i have a problem with vice city that i haven't seen covered...

ok, firstly, i am not very good with technology so please bear with me...

i have a windows 7 home premium os with 455 gb ram acer machine (401 free for use)...i purchased a vice city pc game new and genuine, and installed it without problems... everything worked for 2 days (although installing seemed to have change the os to windows xp)... but after this mozilla firefox opened once in safe mode and then my network stopped working, saying i was connected but had no internet access and my home network was now an unidentified public network and that the default network gateway is unavailable... i tried to fix this through troubleshoot and control panel but after a week of no internet, changing routers, and troubleshooting, was left no choice but to recover the system, which fixed the problem with the internet but uninstalled gta vice city... i lost a weeks worth of gaming...

i a huge fan of gta vice city and would dearly love to play it on my pc and still have internet access...
any help would be much appreciated sad.gif

Hmmm

I really doubt the VC install screwed up your PCs ability to connect to your network. I suspect something else is going on.

Regarding your system restore, Someone can correct me if I am wrong but the save files should have been unaffected by this-- it should not have affected the save "data" files, only the installed programs and your system registry should have been affected by the restore.

thanx for your quick reply smile.gif i have re-installed gta vc and its running fine so far, and is not bothering the internet gateway...yay! you must be right, some other problem must have coincided with my previous installation...recovering the system seems to have solved the issue, if this changes i'll let ya know biggrin.gif thanx
