 | | Welcome to the VC-MP Help and Questions topic. Ask your questions here! |
|---|
About: Do you have some questions, that you'd like to get an answer to? If so, please ask us here! Do not create new topics, just to ask a question. Do it here, and you'll get an answer.
Before posting: However, before you get to ask a question, please visit the documentation topic: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=258801&st=0
It contains everything from setting up your own server, to the Frequently Asked Questions. I'd highly advise you to read the F.A.Q as it should contain the most necessary information needed!
Also, you might want to see the VC-MP directory.
What you should refrain to post about:- The release date for 0.4. (It's unknown.)
- Asking about warez related things. (Against the forum rules. Click me.)
- Suggestions to the next release. (Can be found here.)
- Things that are answered in the documentation or directory. (If so, your question will be ignored.)
- Asking how to get into the beta testing team.
- Asking for trainers/modifications that give unfair advantages.
Alternatively: Go to our IRC channel at irc.gtanet.com (#vc-mp) and ask your question(s) there..
Once you've posted, expect an answer within 2-3 days or less! |

| QUOTE (Vered @ Jan 21 2007, 14:40) | First question: I got a problem making a deathmatch server. I have teams at -1, as it says it should be -1 for deathmatch, but it's still team deathmatch.
Second question: Why does the teams change now and then just randomly? Is there a way to change teams yourself and stop the server from changing the teams for you in the middle of the game? |
Dear Vered First of all, welcome to the community! Hope you'll stay with us! For your first question: I'm not fully sure how the config file configures deathmatch. However, this may be a bug in the software which we'll take a deeper look into. However, please post your config file here, by using the code syntax. | CODE | | Insert your config file contents here! |
For your second question: I'm not fully sure what you mean? Could you please explain that a bit more detailed? | QUOTE | I'm new biggrin.gif in here and I'd liked to play GTA Vice City in mutilplayer, so i downloaded VC-MP 0.3 fixed edition and tryed to connect whit some servers but after i clicked the "connect" button the game started normaly.... Nothing changed confused.gif .
Can someone pls make like tutorial how to get it work and play in multiplayer? smile.gif Pls help, Thx. |
Hello "Th3N00B" A warm welcome to you too Anyway, if your game starts in single play, please be sure that you've installed VCMP at the correct place! It needs to be installed on your GTA Vice City directory (and preferably on an installation without any other modifications!) You may be running another version of Vice City too. Be sure that you're running version 1.0! You can find a video guide here, on how to install VC-MP: http://vrocker.co.uk/VC-MP/client.rarGood luck and have fun! Thanks for the welcome, Ok, my config file looks like this: | CODE | ; ------------------------------------------------------ ; VC:MP Server Configuration File. (0.3 chocolate v2) ; ; ------------------------------------------------------
[GENERAL] ; -- Set ListenPort to the port this server will listen on. ; -- Set MaxPlayers to the maximum number of players allowed ; to connect to this server.
MaxPlayers = 4 ListenPort = 5192 ServerName = "BeKKa" MapName = "Vice City" IplName = "none"
; -- General password configuration. Set NeedPassword to True ; if the server requires a password to connect.
NeedPassword = True Password = "bella"
; -- IT'S MANDATORY THAT YOU SET THE ADMIN PASSWORD! ; THE SERVER WILL NOT START WITHOUT A VALID PASSWORD.
AdminPassword = "123321"
; -- Port that the remote console server listens on.
RconPort = 5315
; -- Maximum number of users that can connect to the remote console ; at the same time.
RconMaxUsers = 5
; Kick Message KickMessage = "You Have Been Kicked from the Server..."
; Ban Message BanMessage = "You Have Been Banned from the Server... DO NOT COME BACK!"
;Log Text To Server LogServer = true
; Set Ping level for server
Ping = 1000
; ---weather settings--- ; 0 = mostly clear skies ; 1 = overcast ; 2 = rainy-lightning ; 3 = foggy ; 4 = clear skies ; 5 = rainy ; 6 = dark sky partly cloudy ; 7 = light sky partly cloudy ; 8 = overcast partly cloudy ; 9 = grey sky black clouds ; --Set default weather ;WeatherDefault = 1; 0-9 reccomended
; --Allow Weather to be randomly change ;WeatherRandomiser = true
; ----------------------------------------------- ; BELOW IS GAMEMODE SPECIFIC CONFIGURATION. ; ONLY CHANGE IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING!!! ; -----------------------------------------------
[GAME]
;------------------------------------------------ ; Authored by jax of the SA:MP team. ;------------------------------------------------
GameMode = "generic"; reserved for future use. GameModeVersion = 0.2; reserved for future use.
; If true, players on the same team will not be able to damage eachother with onfoot weapons. FriendlyFire = false
; If true, players will be shown on the radar. ShowOnRadar = true
PlayerPos = -489.6113 818.2624 97.5104; Where the local player model is initially placed CamPos = -491.4260 821.2193 97.3004; Where the camera is situated for class selection CamLook = -487.6113 816.2624 97.8104; Where the camera is looking for class selection
WorldBounds = 5000.0 -5000.0 5000.0 -5000.0; Confine the world to these boundries
Teams = -1; Number of teams (use -1 for deathmatch)
; THE END |
Without the locations of Skins, Weapons and Vehicles. Hopefully a better explanation to the second question: Let's say I'm in a game playing with two other people and we all start on different teams (eg. Person A is on team Red, Person B is Yellow and I'm Blue). Then suddenly Person A is on Blue team, which means that I'm on his team and if I kill him I get -1 point instead of 1 and the stats mess up and we can't have a Deathmatch anymore. So I wonder if there's a way to manually change teams, eg. a "/team <Color here>" command? I didn't find it on the "Ingame commands" tutorial. Hope I made myself clearer. I belive (if you haven't already done so) you need skins to be setup like this: | QUOTE | ; ; Info: -1 = Team (Should be set to -1 for deathmatch), 61 = Skin ID, 0.0 = PosX, 1.0 = PosY, 2.0 = PosZ, 90.0 = Angle, ; 1 = Weapon1 Number, 2 = Weapon1 Ammo, 3 = Weapon2 Number, 4 = Weapon2 Ammo, 5 = Weapon3 Number, 6 = Weapon3 Ammo ; Class = -1 61 0.0 1.0 2.0 90.0 1 2 3 4 5 6 |

Hmm, it didn't work, it's still Team Deathmatch. Thanks for you time tho, AdTec. Appreciated. I got a new question: Ok, so I tried to put new vehicles on different locations, so I did as it says on the "Frequently asked questions" thing. I spawn vehicles, drive them to the locations I want them to be on and type in "/save". But in the "savedpositions" file I can only find "Class = 0 0 -679.1250 756.1250 11.0848 278.5326 0 0 0 0 0 0". It doesn't save the vehicle locations, only Tommy's location where he is when I save. Is there something I'm doing wrong? and how do you place weapons on different locations aswell? I got the weapon ID's but I don't know the command, if it's even possible to place weapons where you want. - Vered aka. Piiis (lol?) This post has been edited by Vered on Monday, Jan 22 2007, 21:33

Dear Vered Please try to sit inside the vehicle when doing /save. When you get the coords, you'll need to enter the coords into the right syntax. I think I'll do a little quick guide here for everyone on how to set a skin and vehicle ingame: How to change/add skins/vehicles into the configuration file.
Hence I'm speaking about the original "config" file, which you can get at: http://www.vicecitymultiplayer.com/downloa...3_winserver.zip If you're running Linux and not Windows: http://www.vicecitymultiplayer.com/downloa...linuxserver.zip
Skin setup: Try to open the "config" file in notepad, and go down to the place saying:
| CODE | | <<<<< START OF CLASSES >>>>> |
This is where player skins are identified and set.
If you go down a bit, you'll see a text saying:
| CODE | ClassDescription = Working_Class Class = -1 61 335.5701 -233.9047 29.6466 164.1848 1 1 17 250 21 100; constructionworker1 |
This is the first skin of the server. It defines where the player is located when spawning, it defines the players weapons, and it defines the skin of the player.
This is how the syntax works:
| CODE | | Class = (0 = team / -1 = independant) (skin id) (x spawn) (y spawn) (z spawn) (z angle) (weapon 1 ID) (weapon 1 ammo) (weapon 2 ID) (weapon 2 ammo) (weapon 3 ID) (weapon 3 ammo) |
How do I insert a vehicle on my server? It's approximately the same thing for vehicles. You just don't need the weapon syntax!
How do I get coordinates? You can get coordinates in VC-MP build mode by editing your "gtavc" executable, into "gtavc -d". Just double click it and when you're in, type /build. Once you've done that, use /vehicle id. That'll spawn a vehicle near you. If you go into the vehicle, and place it where you'd like it, just do /save and you'll find the coords into a newly created file placed at your VC directory. It should go by the name: "savedpositions"
Where do I get the skin IDs and vehicle IDs? You can get the full Skin, Vehicle and Weapons ID list at: http://www.vrocker.co.uk/VC-MP/vcmp-03-id-listing.pdf |
For your question regarding weapon locations, I'm not fully sure, so I'll investigate this later today! I hope I'll get to reply very soon! If you have any further questions, then please ask me! I'll be more than happy to answer them! Good luck! This post has been edited by Vercetti Gangsta on Tuesday, Jan 23 2007, 07:55

- You download the VC-MP client:
- Install it at your GTA Vice City directory (Preferably without any other modifications installed!).
- You open up the file called "vc-mp" and look near the bottom left corner of it. You press the "Internet" tab.
- Once you've done that, just wait and it'll list all available servers. You double click one of them, and you're ingame. (Littlewhitey's server is the most active one.
