[SOLVED. THE GAME RUNS VERY SMOOTH NOW. I feel so lucky, it was nothing serious at all! All I had to do was to clear my registry in CCleaner. Nothing else!

Thanks for help!]

Hello!
I bought a new computer and decided to play GTA IV on it. Sadly, it runs it much worse than my old machine did (256mb graphic card, 2GB RAM, 2.0GHz dual core processor, Windows XP). Now I have (theoretically) much better computer (GeForce GTX 560 Ti, AMD FX™-6100 Six-Core Processor, 8GB RAM, Windows 7 64-bit). It runs Max Payne 3 and such games smoothly on maxed out detail settings, without any problems... Except GTA IV (and The Amazing Spider-Man, but nevermind on that). No matter what settings I set (low or high), the game just LAGS AS HELL. I tried to do everything but I just don't know... Here's my benchmark test:

Statistics
Average FPS: 14.65
Duration: 32.36 sec
CPU Usage: 45%
System memory usage: 39%
Video memory usage: 91%

Graphics Settings
Video Mode: 1600 x 900 (60 Hz)
Texture Quality: High
Shadow Quality: High
Reflection Resolution: High
Water Quality: Very High
Texture Filter Quality: Anisotropic x4
Night Shadows: Off
View Distance: 25
Detail Distance: 31

Hardware
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
Service Pack 1
Video Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti
Video Driver version: 306.23
Audio Adapter: GBo[niki (Realtek High Definition Audio)
AMD FX™-6100 Six-Core Processor

File ID: Benchmark.cli

Any suggestions? What should I do?

Oh, you're from Poland, nice.

Anyways, AMD processors are very bad for GTA IV. And afterall GTA IV's PC optimalisation is abysmal.
Try to run at the lowest possible settings at 800x600 by using the -safemode command line. If it lags even there, there's something very wrong.

Well, FX-series CPUs are just bad for gaming in general. Phenoms II were way better.

I already have turned details on lowest setting possible and it still lags, kurwa jego mać! My AMD processor shouldn't be a problem since people on YouTube run the game pretty without any problems with this processor. Graphic card shouldn't be a problem too... Could a weak power supply be a reason of constant lags?

OP:

1) What version of GTA IV are you running? 1.0.4 gives much better performance than 1.0.7 for a lot of people regardless of video card (AMD, Nvidia).

2) Your processor should be fast enough since I have run GTA IV with an i7 920 @ 3.3 GHz on patch 1.0.4 flawlessly (45-60 FPS).

3) If this is a laptop, make sure you are playing games and demanding apps with it plugged in and your power setting to "Performance".

That's all I can think of at the moment other than the usual e.g. turn off Anti-Virus scans, defrag utilities, etc.

Nothing helped. This is a one hell of a joke... To think that some guys run this game smoother on 6600 GeForce's, when I can't even get out of Niko's apartment without a hail of ridiculous stutterings. Same with The Amazing Spider-Man - it's impossible to play this game on my computer, though it's a rather powerful machine. f*ckING INCOMPREHENSIVE.
