I'm going to try to start the game on foot or in a bike. I've decided, since last year, that when I start GTA V, this is how I want to start if it's possible. I'm going to take a walk -- probably like 10 blocks worth of walking -- and try to get to know the alleys around my safehouse. The next thing is to check out the little map that comes with the game -- I'm not allowed going onto the internet for tips. I won't even come to these forums for awhile because some power players will ruin the "magic" even with spoiler tags. I'll check out some things around my safehouse on the map, and then I'll find a vehicle or a bike, and venture deep into the city.
Next goal is to get a gun. I'll find a police station, and stake it out to get a gun from an officer, try taking him into an alley or something to get rid of the wanted level ASAP after I snuff him. Once I got a little pistol, I'll go hold up some people for money and a couple more magazines of ammunition. Then I'll either fix up my car or get a new one and take it home and start the missions.
Then everything becomes situational -- for example, before I go venturing into the country, I have to have plenty of ammunition and a 4WD truck. Then I'll be ready to go out there and it'll help with the immersion. This is how me and my buddy played Skyrim, and it's loads of fun to get drunk and treat the game like real life.
It felt like in GTA IV there was no "magic" to getting a new gun or car, and no real purpose for the money... I really hope they fix that so I can immerse myself and fill a couple days up with pure childish enjoyment.

I'll go on foot to visit all possible places in a part of the city. Then I will steal a car and drive around the city. I'll try to kill some cops so I can pick up some weapons. I'll hear to the awesome music on the radio and after a while I'll start the firt mission of GTA V (if it isn't done yet). It'll be interesting to see how long I'll play time game until I finished the story. I played GTA San Andreas for more than 12 months nearly every day to finish the story. It does took me that long because I did 1000 other things in this game. The first time I have finished the story of GTA SA I played the game to 100% and I made all this without internet, a strategy guide or anything.
