Hello

First post here. Hope I am in the right section.

Situation as follows: Had to remove GTA III from computer. I did it with the installation wizard of the game. I did what i had to do on computer, and once done, I wanted to re-install GTA III. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE because the installation wizard behaves as if the game would still be on my computer! wow.gif

At first, I did not panik and made a search files on gta* what did allow me to delete some more files. But still it did not help. So I tried to use add/remove program from windows, but it does not work. GTAIII keeps appearing in the list of programs available on my computer, and each time I started the set up exe from the CD, it proposes only to remove the game, although there is nothing more under directory "program files".

I don't know what to do. I assume it means that one or more files are still somewhere on the harddisk. What files can that be and where?No idea.

So if anybody could provide me with some help, it woudl be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

That means that the reference to the game is still in the system registry & the computer still thinks the game is installed. Have you tried one of them programs that removes dead reg' keys. Try that first, I don't know of any but search in google for Dead Registry Key remover.

Also try doing disk cleanup first & remove setup file data. That might help.

Thank you very much for the suggestion. I have done that. Unfortunately, this has not helped. I still have the same problem. I am close to give up... cryani.gif

Search your registry for entries containing "GTA" or "Rockstar" and delete them. Maybe it helps...

From http://www.rockstargames.com/support/

3.) Delete the default installshield folder: C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{92B94569-6683-4617-8C54-EB27A1B51B30}

4.) You now will need to do a registry clean to make sure no game files were left during the uninstall. The easiest way to do this is to download a program called Regcleaner. You can download the program from here http://www.pcmedixwebs.com/regclean.htm
