Use BlueScreenView to find out the bbcode of previous bluescreens and then post them up here.

The Windows Services track errors if you get into Safe Mode. I had problems with the link from this site to the Consumer Preview ISO for Win8, I would recommend the developer Preview version, though it's requiring about 350MB in updates once installed. I just got done upgrading XP Pro to Win 8 again, no problem once I removed an extra stick of RAM, the problem was 4GB DDR3 on the formatted XP Pro HDD, it would not work nicely with that spec. One issue that can cause odd problems, for me, thought to be the HDD or video driver

Soo..... If that falls somewhat in the ballpark of your issue, look into the remedy

What's PS? Photoshop? Does it get a compatibility assessment from Windows?
One of the things of course, testing software on the OS to see what works, as you install Win8, some virtual switches appear for what reports you agree to share with MS, at least in Developer Preview. Some obligation is required to use the OS free of charge I believe

You have to expect certain software not to work with Windows 8 as it's not finalized yet. When it's released and still gives BSOD, then worry about it. Right now, just run PS under Windows 7.
You can disable automatic restart on system failure so when BSOD occurs, the system will not restart. I doubt Windows 8 will have that right now as the entire OS is still in its developing stages. MS was kind enough to release a consumer preview for the masses. You
can also try their feedback tool and see if they will fix this bug with Windows 8 RTM.

Unless MS didn't include it in 8 you can see the BSOD error in Event Viewer.
Also, again unless 8 is different, Control Panel->System->Advanced->Startup and Recovery->Settings: Uncheck "Automatically restart". Click OK until you're out and restart the system for the changes to take effect.
Lastly, look in C:\Windows\Minidump you should see the dump files.
Zip or RAR them and upload them. I'll see if the debugger can read them, no promises.

In the mean time run memtest86+ for at least 3 passes to make sure it's not a memory issue.

Also keep in mind you're using a beta of an OS so crashes might be something you'll have to get use to. I would also make sure error reporting is enabled and let it send the report to MS so they know what is going on and can look into it to fix it if it's a common enough thing.

sry guys for not checking the thread fast enough confused.gif i'll try all ur sugestions smile.gif

OverTheBelow: i'll try that software smile.gif

EDIT: where's those dump files located?:S

Slamman: i use the Developer Preview, haven't updated to the Consumer, and i wont either, too much files on the pc already that i don't wanna lose

Stinky12: yeah, i know it's just a beta with lots of bugs, but the BSoD shouldn't appear just because of a simple program as PS

Wolf68k: i'll do that ASAP i've tried the software that OverTheBelow linked me to. how can it be a memory issue? where do i check if the error reporting is on?

I said where the dump files are before.
C:\Windows\Minidump
You might have to set it to show hidden folders or something.

For the memory test go to http://www.memtest.org/#downiso
I made it easy to jump you straight to the download section. Select "Download - Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip)"
Using your favorite CD burning software to burn the image. Or download ImgBurn http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download and let it do it for you a little bit easier.
Once the disc is made, keep the disc in the drive and restart and make sure you're set to start up from CD before your HDD. Once memtest boots it'll take care of its self. Then just go away for about 2-3hours or more.

Left panel: Click Windows Logs then System
Right panel: Click Filter and check only Error, Warning and Critical, then click OK
Center top panel: Look at the Date and Time column and try to find something on the date(s) and around the time(s) that the BSOD happened. The center bottom panel will have the info and details.

My problem is that I can't remember the last time I got a BSOD so I can't find one of mine to give you more detail as to what to look for. So if you can't find it right now, just go on with things as normal as best you can and as soon as it happens again just write down the date and time as best you can, if you were able to uncheck the auto-restart that I mentioned before then write down everything the BSOD says as well, then go have a look at the EV to see what it says.

A BSOD of any kind? You lucky dawg

In WinXP I've had more BSOD then any other OS I can remember, no matter what SP I have, but it seems that that's partly based on how often I use Windows XP

Here's an update on Win8, BTW, anyone else test driving it, help keep our WIN8 topic active, it's falling down the page a bit

http://www.forumswindows8.com/info/windows...summer-221.html

There's a number of good blogging tips found on the above ^
