Strange problem with the CMOS Battery and starting the PC. Normally, after pressing the start button on the CPU (flashing green and red lights and start up initiates) the PC loads up with no problems at all. This is what we generally do to start the PC. But recently after pressing the Start button nothing happens, PC won't start at all. The Monitor is on, all the plugs are perfect and the power socket also perfectly connected.
But, when I remove and again place the CMOS Battery automatically PC starts up (without pushing start button while the power connection is ON). Following that, a screen appears to notify the usual CMOS battery and checksum errors, than I select "...your most recent settings that worked" and the PC works just fine. No problems at all with any programs.
The problem is that now my PC starts only when the CMOS battery is removed and placed again.
Any help would be great to solve this odd problem.
Should I change the battery? Also, how can I know battery needs to be changed or not?
