A group is working on a Direct X graphics wrapper originally called TexMod.

TexMod was written back in 2006 and the developer is dust in the wind after the beta was dropped on the internet. The beta is out there floating around some with virus and malware attached. Got to love those Christmas gifts!! biggrin.gif

Never fear, this new open source group (German based I think) are working on a new version from the ground up. Since this is an open source project -I trust those more than I do commercial- you can grab the code and work on your own tweaks. Here is their homepage and there is a short demo video. The program supports Direct X 9 they plan to take it to Direct X 10 next.

No more digging half a mile through txd and converting and recompiling the database! You can actually convert on the fly, I am messing with beta 1.21 right now and making car textures. Give it a try.

Great! Have not heard about programs like that before. I am going to give it a try!

One thing: How does it work?

Go to the homepage and view the video. It lays everything out pretty simple.

I repainted a few signs in GTA SA. The only problem I am running across is the way the program finds the textures. You have to scroll through about 1500 to 2000 and watch for the image to light up green. Once that happens you save the texture to a dds file (so you need gimp to repaint it). Compress your new image to a zip file and load the zip as your package.

Seriously this is so simple, it is like you can paint while the game is idle. Then if you don't like what you see in the game go back and make changes and never reload the game.

The program works for any game running DirectX 9.0 so I am off to screw with some other games as well. biggrin.gif

Maybe you should ask them to make it backwards compatible. I don't know how difficult that would be to add into the code?

It's L, as in Lpgunit, not I.

So, I guess this one's good enough if you want to test a texture you made in a pinch.
