A THANKS TO TWISTED89/FANTASEB FOR GIVING THE PERSON WHO MADE THIS THREAD THE FILES? |
This thread has arguably reignited the hype train. |
No it hasn't, just the same as before as its not officially announced, and any can make something like this from hours of investigation of how to put them together. If this is true however, i will eat my own words about this topic
And the 7th Gen consoles can not handle the 4 seasons without cutbacks of the game. So no this will not happen, we have had months of fake info since early november and sadly this is one of them.
Oh and R* has done this before with III era cars and bikes in BULLY and BULLY scholarship edition | 155 people viewing one topic when there are generally not even half that amount of people on the GTAV forum this time of day.... ...okay sure, no hype train here.

Why would the gta v car list be in the max payne files? Explain please! |
according to a friend who has been modding max payne 3 he found a file called vehicles.ide and this is what it contained i have no way to prove if this is real or not but it looks pretty real to me and he wouldn't lie to me |
Ok, but that's Max Payne 3, what does this have to do with GTA 5? Sorry again if I appear lame. |
Your a idiot, inside the game is tons of Debug data? Even some reference to GTAV files, like I gave to my friend who posted the Vechile.ide file. I can tell you something GTAV is the exact same as MP3 except Map is different, and few other files. | You're an**

As others have noted, this does indeed seem legit, but as far as I understand right now there's no way to verify that unless someone posts the keys needed to decrypt the Max Payne data files. If you rip (using a special drive with special software, your normal CD/DVD/BD burner won't do) or download Max Payne 3 you will end up with an .iso file (well, two actually) which you can open with Xbox360 ISO Extract (current version with "XGD3" support, Google if you have to); with that tool you can extract the .iso file contents, which will give you a whole lot of .rpf files (audio.rpf, sp_memory.rpf, xbox360.rpf and many others).
I'm not into GTA/RDR/MP3 modding so I can't tell you much more than that; but my guess is ".rpf" stands for "Rockstar Package Format", which is most likely a proprietary file storage format that allows them to combine multiple files into single container files; this has the added benefit of not allowing normal users to tamper with any of the files within because that would change the data hash which would give the file a huge red flag of the "DON'T LOAD ME, I HAVE BEEN EDITED" kind (which, of course, you can just ignore if you can hack the game executables like on "JTAG'd" or "RGH'd" Xbox360s [or development kits of course]).
My guess would be you can load those .rpf files with some editor (like apparently SparkIV?) using the correct key for the game (version).
Then, like in the screenshot posted a few pages before this post, you'll get a list of files contained in the .rpf container file, which you can then view.
And that's (probably) where the vehicle info came from.
As for MP3, I've played through the entire game (and f*cking hate it for way too many reasons to list here but mostly for having nothing to do with the old Max Payne games, not being "noir" at all and gameplay like a (bad) cross between GoW and Kane & Lynch) and can guarantee you you don't drive a single car (or boat), only other characters do for you (like Passos in the boat and the girl in the bus); and you most certainly never get near any snow vehicles, there are none in the game.
All in all I'd guess those are indeed vehicles from V, although the list is most likely incomplete (probably copied over from early V files to MP3).
So how about the keys guys? Proof is always better than info only a single party can verify.
And thanks for the post, as well as the initial data of course, nice to finally have some news.
Oh, and one last thing: could people *PLEASE* stop calling things like this "leaks"? A leak happens when information gets out from some internal place, i.e. an employee. These are files found in a final version of a game consumers can buy today, they're just there. They're a very good (and early, props!) find. But not a leak. --- Just to add to this if anyone doesn't feel like reading through the 13 previous pages (which will probably expand to at least 50 by tomorrow): - The "#" at the start of lines in the .ide files mark everything in that particular line as a comment, meaning it won't be read like a normal entry would but instead will be ignored. - "deprecated" in this case most likely refers to the data "not being used" anymore; as a programmer you often copy over old code (or settings like in this case) and then just add the new code, taking the old code as an example. Then you usually delete the old code, but apparently (someone at) Rockstar likes just commenting it out. - People are so sure this data comes from a GTA game because of some of the vehicle names which have been the same since the GTA III era.

I'm well and truly on the fence with this info, I take all of this non Rockstar material with a pinch of salt, we will all now soon enough. | Thats funny, since this is rockstar material, it's taken from max payne 3.

The files are either scrapped from IV or are for V.
