Not sure if there's a thread, if there is, please direct me to it and lock this one.

Basically, just rate the song above you, and post your own song after you've given your rating, don't double post please.

Here's one of my favourites.

4/10. Pathetic song. You should have been sucked out your mother's twat onto the f*cking tray for that, mate.

The following is a selection from 1969's Captain Beefheart avant-blues masterpiece, Trout Mask Replica. The song is "When Big Joan Sets Up." It is amazing. If you don't give it at least a 10 you must have profound mental retardation.

Hehe, odd choice, not sure what I should rate that. I didn't like it, I like blues, but that wasn't it. I'm sure some can appreciate that kind of music though, 3/10.

Edit: I'd say about 8/10. Never really listened to Finch, but I could get to like it.

And now, my attempt to try and get the lowest score. Sad thing is, I like it.

I'm giving that 5/10. Horrible or not it automatically gets 5 from me for being insane.

I give you Metropolis by Dream Theater.

4:30 to 4:43 is one of my favorite parts of any song ever.

And what the f*ck is wrong with you people? Cream and Captain Beefheart are awesome. I understand people have their own opinions and I can understand why people wouldn't like Captain Beefheart really but Cream?

Hm, I give it a 7/10. Very mellow, and it did right by Bob's version.

8/10. The vocals were alright but the guitar playing was awesome. The playing reminded me of Joey Eppard, which brings me to.....

Joey Eppard - Amaze Disgrace

I could only find a non live version on last.fm.

Well I hope you still listened to the song before rating it. Or else this topic would be a complete waste of time. And we wouldn't want that.

Anyway, your song was alright, if you like low-budget punky stuff. Could probably use a melody though, it's not what you'd call catchy. 4/10.

Next - maybe the best song ever written, you decide.

Maybe I could see the appeal, but not for me. Nothing impressive at all, respectfully. This song however, is brilliant. Prolly my favorite overall Zappa at the moment, Rdnzl.

Good sh*t! Zappa's the man.

I'll see that and raise you this irritating ditty, sung by his daughter Moon Unit (wha?) no less.

sorry if my post came off blunt. even though i don't like Incubus at all i will still recognize them as great at what they do. i just don't like things too polished, "low budget-punky stuff" as you put it is pretty much all i listen to.

@Esperanto boy: 9/10 i love Frank Zappa and everything associated with him

I was reading in Nick Mason's Pink Floyd book about how the UK music scene was exposed to US artists like Velvet Underground and The Mothers of Invention.

I had thought to make a thread on that.... but not yet, he gets mentioned here a lot. I was not a fan but was exposed to MUCH of his music...again, by Mr. Earl Root. Earl's favorite artist was probably Zappa. Zappa was clearly not a metal artist, but Earl dedicated whole radio shows to his music and always was interested in collecting ANY recordings he could find, in mint condition, etc...as a record collector and fan

I still wouldn't call myself a fan, but I grew to respect him and give his music a chance versus writing it off as too much jazz and not enough rock and roll.
Didn't hurt that Steve Vai cut his chops performing with Zappa live! He is an amazing guitarist who also reveres Zappa...with first hand experience, so some bias there.
Bears repeating...from me, Incubus is again a stolen name from a much HARDER band that will NEVER be called 'polished', or punk. They were TRUE METAL.

If I am to rate Suicidal Tendencies...in keeping with the theme, I of course, am a long time fan!
Picking up the box set of Miami Vice was a given with me, but Suicidal perform on the show and it's awesome, as always.
