R* Games Social Club just launched it's new feature, to be used in for Max Payne 3, Grand Theft Auto V & all their games afterwards.

Crews as they call them will basically unite MP players on all R* games, and certainly the main playground will be GTA V, once it's out.
So, in preparations for that & GTA V, i'm making a topic here, so that all the GTAF Gangs can create their Social Club crew, because it will be a very important feature in GTA V.
Crew itself on Social Club will help you and your crew mates gain extra XP, more bonuses & unlock weapons easier & maybe even gain more members. Once MP3 is out, as well as GTA V, it will track down your crew stats. You can also organize feuds both in game, and via Social club with other crews. They can also damage or increase your gangs' reputation.

So, how to register your crew?

• Step 1: Make an account if you don't have one, at http://socialclub.rockstargames.com , and then relink your PSN/XBL/GFWL/etc accounts to it.
• Step 2: Make your friends do it, if they haven't already.
• Step 3: Go here http://socialclub.rockstargames.com/crews/create , and create your crew. You must pick a 4 lettered crew tag for your crew. You obviously will name your crew as it is on GTAF. Those 2 features cannot be edited once your crew is created; the logo, the motto and everything else can. After May 15th, 2012, no more crews get to have 2 gold stripes and be veteran crews.
• Step 4: Post your crew here, and reveal yourself to the GTAF world! Whether it's a crew for fun, or a crew for your OGA or MP gang.

As one member can be in up to 5 crews, GTAF'ers will certainly make a few more crews for pure entertainment. Maybe there will be a Footy Desk Crew, a Slamman crew, GTAF Girls crew and stuff like that, so besides the Official GTAF Crew by meta187, and your gangs; one, you can also belong to these "other" groups, but made by GTAF members; Those are listed in the above section!

What i think they did is, instead of restricting crew to a certain system, they made it so that whoever joins your crew will represent the crew on a certain system.

basically, even if you have 1 member on xbox say, that guy can gain crew points for the crew, or something like that.
But i guess we'll see when MP3 is out.

I understand that but in order for people to actually play together they need to be using the same platform. It's all well and good being part of a crew but if you can't fight as a crew then there's not much point in being in one. I think it would make more sense to have 3 seperate GTAForums crews and just let people join the crew for which platform they play most on.. unless it's possible to join more than one crew??

EDIT: @AndyGanteks - Ok that makes it a little bit clearer but I still think it would be better to have 3

Either way you/we can sort it when MP3 comes out.

Yeah that makes a bit of a difference alright.

The more I think about it though I'm realising that people aren't just going to blindly join a crew without looking into it and most of the Gangs on this forum list what platform they play on in their descriptions. I suppose it will be quite easy to have different "sets" or "chapters" of a gang for each of the different platforms the way real life gangs have different geographical sets accross states and countries which are incorporated under the one umbrella.

Andy, I would suggest not listing the exact number of members. Trust me, it will be a bitch to keep up to date. You could make categories, for example 1-10 members, 10-20 members and 20+. The number of crews will most likely grow at a fast rate, the number of members for each crew will fluctuate constantly and it looks like this crew system will be here for years, so do yourself a favor .
