Bought gta 4 on steam today in hopes of actually playing today but that doesnt seem to be the case. i bought the package deal on steam and downloaded and installed both. on gta 4 says Activation process has been terminated Internal error message: userdata commit failed. but everything im entering is correct. most of the time it is trying to activate itself w/o me typing anything and it says this. and on gta 4 eflc it says cannot write license data. so naturally im very pissed and looking for a way to fix this. windows 7 64bit

Do you have some sort of active process protection running? Like comodo or some other AV software? Try disabling that and try again.

ill give it a try thanks. almost done redownloading cause i thought that might help for some reason. just finished installing and tried again and no go still says "Activation process has been terminated - internal error message: userdata commit failed"

and my gta 4 eflc says cannot write license data and the revoke activation wont work. there isnt a program assigned to it so it would do anything at all. this sucks and i was looking forward to playing both of these tonight. please let me know if anyone has a fix for this. i uninstalled and redownloaded both and nothing has changed

It was a very simple question, do you or do you not have an active AV running?

i said i was gonna give it a try it again after turning my av off and i did turn it off and didnt change anything.

Some antivirus programs are quite resilient when it comes to shutting them down. You can try installing the game in safe mode, that should be doable and if any AV component is causing this it will be automatically disabled.
