So the other month I completed GTA III on iPad again, and I'm absolutely sh*t scared of Portland, due to the Leone Mafia presence. Their shotguns literally blow up your car in 2 shots and I've basically stranded myself in Staunton and SSV.

Since beating the storyline makes the Rhino spawn at Phil's whenever visited (if you don't already have one by then), you have a means of getting around safely. Or use one of the other bulletproofs aquired during the storyline.

I like using trainers and start mayhem mode giving myself an everything-proof car at the same time. If so then I go anywhere I want. If it is just playing normally I won't avoid Portland completely, but definitely Saint Marks, that place is scary.

When I used to play GTA 3, I avoided only Saint Mark's... I visited other parts of Portland

^^^Same. The worst that can happen outside of Saint Mark's is getting shot at with a pistol or dragged out of your car by the Triads or Diablos. But I avoided Saints Mark's like the plague unless I had the bulletproof Patriot.

Nope! If anything, after beating the game I was more eager to ponder through there with the Tank you can easily access at Phil's hideout.

I drove the bullet-proof patriot around st marks for a while, got shot at, thats it.

I find the area much more enjoyable in LCS

It is walk in the park in Saint Mark's Bistro. This think which I do it I simply go from the right side and go to Marco's Bistro. If I see any Mafia, I simply shoot him but I know nothing good will happen, either the cops come or other mafias gang up. There is one heart pickup, an uzi in a alleyway and at the north in the Portland Harbor, there is an Armour. It's like free Rampage. If I every get f*cked up like 2 stars, I grab a train and go to Hepburn heights (On the pathway, I will collect a bribe) and cause another chaos for Diablos (They will be only angry when you complete King Country's Mission). Soon after I get another 2 stars, I grab the train and go to Chinatown. Unlike the other two, I must be careful as Triads will spawn in the station. I get a vehicle and jump at the station ramp and grab a bribe. Soon after that, I use my saved Banshee in the P Garage and go for the El-Train. I go back to Rockford and cause chaos at the Colombian hood but as I have completed the game, the Yakuza's will also spawn. This makes my day.

1. Drive into Saints Mark's area with the BP Patriot from Leon.
2. Drive slowly so the Leone's follow you, then drive into Hepburn Heights.
3. ??????
4. PROFIT (and by that, take the money/weapons dropped by the gangs)

Darn, this is a good poll. I modded the game on PC, and iPod Touch 4G to make them not so nasty. I made all the gangs stop shooting at you because they are really annoying. I think there is a reason why they toned it down as the game series went on.

But I don't normally go over there anyways after beating the game. (with out modding the gangs so they don't attack) Simply because I don't play III very much. If I wanna play III a lot of times I just play on the GTA LC mod instead. Then I can blow up the Leonies with the Hunter.

Do I avoid Portland? Not really. It's the first island you are on and many locations are very familiar to you over there. But I can honestly say that I used to avoid The Leone Mafia because of their shoutguns. I even remember there was one mission I played where my car blew up because of that Mafias insane behaviour. That meant that I also died.

I don't avoid the entire island. I DO however, avoid the most dangerous parts which mostly include Mafia turf. Those guys will take you down within seconds. Gang hostility was something that annoyed me about GTA. The only gangs that don't seem to be hostile towards you after you complete the game are the Southside Hoods and the Yakuza.

They are the only ones. Although I have to say I never understood the reason the Yardies go hostile towards you, even this many years after playing the game for the first time.

But of course I don't avoid the Island... and I'll still fly through the area like I'm invincible because it's always nice to get that surprise WASTED
Good point bringing up the BP cars and trucks too.

I do. The gangs are a pain in the ass! And that's sad, since Portland is my favorite island from GTA III
