Hello GTA Community,

Would be glad if you read it all.
Just wanted to advertise this largest and most quality online multiplayer modification which is called Multi Theft Auto: San Andreas
The project originally started by one man called "ijsf" in late 2003 playing with GTA 3 code and later nearly more than 10 people joined into that project and thousands of interested fans wanted to play it.
Today, the MTA:SA is having more than 300,000 unique players per month and it was 1st at MOTY 2012 ( Mod Of The Year ).

Okay, going to put the links first:
- Website: MTA: San Andreas Website can be also found with http://multitheftauto.com/ link.
- Forums: MTA: San Andreas Forums
- Community: MTA: San Andreas Community
- IRC ( Internet Relay Chat ): irc.gtanet.com, channel - #mta
- Google Code ( Since MTA is open sourced ): MTA: San Andreas Google Code
- Wiki ( Where you can learn scripting stuff ): MTA: San Andreas Wiki

Introduction

Multi Theft Auto (MTA) is a software project that adds network play functionality to Rockstar North's Grand Theft Auto game series, in which this functionality is not originally found. It is a unique modification that incorporates an extendable network play element into a proprietary commercial single-player PC game.

Overview

The latest Multi Theft Auto software is based on code injection and hooking techniques whereby the game is manipulated without altering any original files supplied with the game. The software functions as a game engine that installs itself as an extension of the original game, adding core functionality such as networking and GUI rendering while exposing the original game's engine functionality through a scripting language.
The project has also been the subject in multiple articles in different media. The most prominent being a coverage on G4 TV, an exclusive release for Fileplanet with coverage on its frontpage, and features in published magazines such as PC Gamer and Total PC Gaming.
The Multi Theft Auto: San Andreas project was revised and relaunched as an open source project, leaving all prior versions behind. The source code was licensed under the GPLv3 license and made available on Google Code and GitHub.

Multi Theft Auto: San Andreas

Multi Theft Auto's latest release is for the game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and is built upon a now open source game engine that has been in development for several years and is the only project that is still actively maintained. The engine provides users with all the necessary tools they need to create their own game modes and maps by exposing a large part of the original game functionality through a Lua scripting machine.
The initial version of the software was dubbed "Race" and unveiled on Sunday 22 January 2006, when the first playable content was released. This version featured a networked vehicle racing game mode and a map editor that allowed users to create custom environments and races. The advanced nature of the engine's early incarnation allowed the developers to develop a sophisticated integrated WYSIWYG editor for adding gameplay elements such as checkpoints, spawn points, power-ups and various objects ranging from ramps to exploding barrels.
The successor release, dubbed "Deathmatch", was designed to improve upon "Race" by providing minimal sandbox style gameplay that could be extended by users and developers. The production on this release started shortly after the initial release, but stagnated due to what is seen as a lack of focus by the development team. As many new features were being introduced, the continuous introduction of these features delayed a stable and final version of the modification.[16] Instead, several on-line facilities were introduced during the development phase to allow visitors to track the development process of the software as changes were made to the code repository, illustrating any notable updates to the progress of the modification.
The first "Deathmatch" successor was introduced as a fully playable version on 2 January 2008 and tagged as "Developer Preview" to promote the third-party development of custom gameplay content and utilities. This version was followed by a second "Developer Preview" that introduced several new features and fixes and was subsequently followed by a period of major code restructuring that led to the open source relaunch on Friday, 21 November 2008 under the GPLv3 License.
On Saturday, 22 August, Multi Theft Auto: San Andreas v1.0 was officially distributed as the first open source release. This release abandoned the now obsolete "Deathmatch" tag in the product name to emphasize on the versatility of the software. Gameplay functionality is solely provided by the scripting language, so users can choose or develop their own combination of scripts and other contents to customize and host their own type of game.

MTA Developers would be so happy when they would get more players to play on this incredible modification, so if you have got a free time on your hands feel free to download that 10mb of mod.
NOTE: The mod is not mine, it is a open source mod of The MTA Team and they do not have any complaints about advertising it.

But it isn't your mod, it has to be your mod and technically it's advertising.

Agree'd. Though if I remember right, GTA-network was related to creating SA:MP, and as MTA has lots of cool stuff, people are going to request them for singleplayer. Prepare for sh*tstorm.

But I don't see why this isn't supposed to be in here, it's not converted, stolen or anything. I think it's good that you made this. icon14.gif

EDIT:
@Spider-Vice

AFAIK, nope.

[4.3] Exceptions:
Modding tools. We are always happy to host information regarding new tools/programs by other people; in aid of GTA modding or to advance it. If you do create a thread about such a tool then please state clearly who the author of the tool is and possibly provide any information to contact them. Major breakthroughs in GTA Modding are also an exception, though we request you use the Search feature first, as your idea may not be as much of a breakthrough as you think. However we still maintain that if possible, original authors post the topic themselves.

EDIT #2:
@CapY

I actually once tried MTA during my "noob"-modding days, and couldn't actually get my mods work on it. If I remember correctly, MTA has some sort of support of mods, right?

First positive post, that's what I like and thank you.
And yeah, SA:MP boys are pretty much switching to the MTA just the fact that SA:MP is more popular and the MTA is more about quality and unlimited possibilities.

Support of mods, what do you mean by that?
If you mean the mods to change something in the game then no ( it doesn't works that way ), MTA doesn't supports that.
MODS in the MTA are called 'resources' and they are made via scripting, which is really easy.
