So far the responses to the new screenshots have been divided. About half are complaining that the graphics are not that stellar, even going as far to call them "bad" or "ugly". What were you expecting? I know that Watch Dogs and other games have set the bar high, but GTA IV looks phenomenal even now, imho. RDR even more so.
The screenshots look like an improvement over IV's visuals, although not a substantial one. But if you remember, III, VC and SA all had very similar graphics, with SA being the best by an extent. That's an example of progression during a console generation. Also, all of you diehard fans that populate this wonderful oddity of a forum I have come to love despite its faults should remember that SA was not a huge technical advancement, but was rather a massive advancement in terms of actual gameplay and content.
This is what I expect from GTA V: a large open world at least on par in size with RDR with extensive side missions, more vehicles, a compelling and lengthy story, and HOPEFULlY a well-integrated and robust economic system that will be very meaningful to the experience.
I don't expect Witcher 2 graphics or Battlefield graphics. I do love great visuals, but for me, and I assume most others on this forum, gameplay is the most important factor in a GAME.
I just don't think any of us have anything to worry about. GTA IV remains to this day my favorite game of all time, and it was almost certainly unfinished, imo from playing it extensively and seeing its flaws.
Rockstar has had plenty of time to expand upon IV's mastery, and also incorporate elements from the III era games that didn't make it to IV, such as character and car customization and a large map as seen in SA.
Rockstar won't let us down, so please stop complaining about everything they do just because of these tedious wait. It will be worth it in the end.
Thoughts?

I wasnt complaining that it looked like sh*t. But it looked like sh*t compared to the trailer. Not compared to IV. You guys are missing the point here. |

Working in the game industry myself, its clear many people here are using the term "graphics" all wrong.
Graphics actually refer to how well the game presents itself, for example look at the game Mercenaries 2. The Xbox 360 version had better graphics as it was able to take advantage of crisp shaders, high res textures and high poly count models, where as the PS2 version looked terrible due to the lack of these resources.
Graphics does not equal photo realism. Rayman origins, for example, has amazing graphics. If these people who want amazing "graphics" in their Xbox or PS3, stop playing games on 5+ year old hardware. I'm not a PC fanboy by any means, I own a 360, but when I want the best experience visual wise, nothing beats my fairly cheap gaming PC.

Broken game, did so much, then got to a point where I just could no longer progress. Floating cars, glitched missions etc etc. That was a coding fail.
