I don't care at all, unless you guys post something about September 7th.

Remember, we all are americans. I am an american from South America.

Yeah, but your country is called "Oriental Republic of Uruguay". USA is called "United States of America".
Hence why people in USA are called, americans.
And it's not like people think USA is the only country in the American continent.

Also the reason USA independence day is posted here, is because there are many Americans in this forum.

What happened in September 7th?

1st: I don't live in Uruguay, I just don't like the brazilian flag.
2nd: September 7th is Brazil's Independence day.

And f*ck, they are United States of America, not the America itself that is composed by South, Central and North America. I am a brazilian american if you can call me that way.

If they reserve the right to make thread abou their independence day, why you can't make one about Argentina or me about Brazil?

1st: Okay, I don't read minds.
2nd: Hence why I couldn't find anything related to Urugyay. tounge.gif

I don't think they call themselfs like that because they feel like they are the whole continent. It's just their name.
Besides "EstadoUnidense" sounds akward in english.
And my Uruguay's example still stands.
USA was the first country to get it's Independence in The Americas, so they took the name first. It's really nothing to make a fuss about.
America is just their name, who happens to be also it's continent name.

I don't think anyone would stop you. Just don't expect many people to post in it.

Go right ahead. Heck, we even celebrated Canada day here just a few days ago.

Oh and sure it is North America, Central America, and South America, but I believe the term 'Americans' comes from the USA. You have to remember that we are a collection of little states and not just one big nation. An American is just someone who lives in one of the many(50+) united states. Each of our states is it's own government and all that.

And not to sound like a dick but 'Brazilian American' would be someone from Brazil that immigrated and took up citizenship in the USA. Heck, you don't even have to be first generation to use the term. You could be born in the states to your Brazilian parents and you would be 'Brazilian American'.

I'm Ukrainian American, and I was born in this country.

The closest the British would get to a national day(s) would be St. George's Day, St. David's Day, St. Andrew's Day and St. Patrick's Day, and then those don't get celebrated that much (well except for St. Patrick's Day which usually calls for a large piss up).

st patricks day is for the irish not really a brittish day. but everyone else celebrates it just for an excuse to get blind drunk. and/or take a day off work.
and the reason brits don't celebrate their patriotism with st georges day and such is cos everyone else will say we are racist or some sh*t like that

4th for me was dreadful. There was no fireworks display in Humboldt Park, Chicago where I live in, but there was a big one in Navy Pier. But my car broke down, and it's still in the shop as I speak. I walked to my buddy's apartment all the way in 26th St. - a small Mexican barrio next to Humboldt. We then invited a few, and he drove us to Rogers Park, where we had a picnic.

The humidity was hell, but a few beers cooled me down. We pretty much spent the 4th in Rogers - and ended up watching Navy's fireworks from there.

Yep, nothing says America like drinking Egyptian beverages and playing with weapons invented by the Chinese.

Beats drinking India's tea and eating crumpets.
