Sony and Microsoft are finally making money on consoles and they sell very well. Hardware limitations are there, but developers haven't fully pushed it to their limits (not saying it wouldn't be even easier to go even farther on a new high powered system).
Cutting short the ten year plan to lose money on every system sold, endure recalls and first round fixes, market push people moving from what they are happy with to something new will costs billions. Right now is the gravy train for these companies and for that I would think 2013-2014 would be marketing with 2015 release. The rumors floating around about the "new" consoles are just terrible too. Seems like stuff nightmares are made of, couldn't be legit, IMO.
EDIT: further two cents, McDonalds has some of the most fierce marketing in the world from their 100% Beef scheme to cutting down rain forest for cattle operations and people still kill themselves as "high users" thinking it's a family fun ground with muppets and coloured balls. Working at McDonalds running around like a chicken with it's head cut off and not knowing why must be like spending the day bumping into to sh*t because your eyes are closed. But, truthfully it's mostly kids getting crash course team training so it's not such a big shock... lol
