Hi.

Link - http://www.flipkart.com/computers/laptop-a...w--&_pop=flyout

Can someone recommend me a good headphone for use on my laptop? I'd be using it while I play games or watch movies. Music isn't as much of a priority. I have read a few reviews but I'd like to have opinions from you guys in case you have used some of these before and can guide me in the proper direction so I don't waste my money on crap. Nothing too flashy or costly though. Try to keep it below Rs.1500.

Thanks.

Sony, I mentioned the obvious. Or try some Koss The Plugs, I've also picked up a pair of Philips brand that slip around your neck and loop over each ear, big pads, big driver, but the odd style makes them hard to put on and off. The current CHEAPY Walkman Sonys I have on now for nite time laptop use got broken when a dog sat on them but they still work, just one adjustment band is loose. They come in and do the deed for a few bucks! Can't beat that when they do get damaged and need replacement, I spent about 2 bucks on them at the Goodwill

My Sony Walkman headset I paid $4 dollars. MDR-023 it seems is the model, the audio quality is really nothing to complain about, I think

We have a recent topic asking about headphones http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=504407
I made a suggestion as well.
Cliff notes about my reply: Sony MDR-XB500 I tried on at BestBuy and the store noise was virtually gone, no idea how music sounded. I personally use Sennheiser HD 202 1 not 2 but there is little difference between them and picked them up for $20 some place online, cut out a good amount of noise and sound great for me.

It's 1590 Rs, which is about $32.
Its quality is amazing, just listen to dubstep and see how long you last tounge.gif

@Wolf
I'm using the HD 202 too lol.gif

Koss Sporta Pro - best budget headphones in my opinion! Pumpy bass, great mids and highs!

The HD 202 is permanently discontinued though so that's out of the equation.

How about the HD 201? If the difference between the 201 and 202 ain't much, it would be worth buying, no?

I have a pair of Sennheiser 212HD Pro, which is probably pretty much the same as other 212 and 202 models. There's not going to be a great deal of difference there. It might just be because I've since migrated to Bose, but they feel a little flat now. They aren't as expensive as other models and brands though, and with a name like Sennheiser you know you're going to get a quality product. If I had to stick to that price range I'd go with those, though.

The 212 is out of my price range. I just want a decent headphone, not something exceedingly good so I'm not willing to pay so much for them. At the moment, the 201 seems to be my best bet unless there's a con I'm unaware of. Inputs?

If you don't have a high budget, I'd go for the HD 201.
Though I have to say, these two (HD 201 and 202) are the only I know lol.gif
But, I also have a Trust GXT 10, which is ... Ok. It isn't over-the-ear which really starts to hurt after a few hours.
And I have to say, I've broken the headband (or how you want to call it) two times; they're not very strong turn.gif

But, if that HD 202 is in-stock again, buy that one.
If you don't want to wait, I'd buy the HD 201 icon14.gif

I'm pretty sure 'permanently discontinued' means it's never going to be in stock again. tounge.gif

I received my Audio Technica ATH-M30s, so I'll post my mini review of them here. Compared to the JVC HARX700s that I had before, they're considerably lighter and maybe even a bit more comfortable, although if a person has a really wide head they may squeeze a bit tight, but my head is already on the large side and it's not too bad.

As far as durability goes, I think they have the potential to hold up longer than the JVCs did. The adjust via a metal band where as the JVCs were all plastic.

They have pretty good isolation as well. I put them on and outside sounds are dampened pretty good. Likewise they are fairly quiet to anyone close by.

Sound quality is solid. They respond really well to various equalizer settings and adjustments. I've read reviews stating that you need a decent amp to drive them and that they won't have good response with portable players, but I was able to get pretty good response from my on-board Realtek HD audio. However, they really shine when I drive them with my a/v receiver.

Overall, I concur with the majority of reviews I read on them: they provide a pretty good bang for the buck.

The Sony XB500s seem like a solid choice as well, but I was kinda put off by the gigantic cushions and short 4-foot cord.

"We're sorry. The Web address you entered is not a functioning page on our site"

How would I go about ordering something from Amazon though? I could try their Indian version website "junglee.com".

Edit: Cannot find the category for headphones over there. I guess the site is still under development.

The 201 is looking like my best bet right now.

Edit2: And the 201 is out of stock too. Brilliant. confused.gif

These Panasonics I was considering in my topic look pretty good for the price. Maybe you can find an e-tailer in your country that carries them.

My bad, when I trimmed the URL I did too much
HD 202 $35.49 http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-202-Dy.../dp/B000065BP9/ they much be running low on them
HD 202 II $31.00 http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-202-Pr.../dp/B003LPTAYI/

/edit
I was just looking at the 1-star reviews for the HD 202 II and I have to hand it to Sennheiser. They have someone replying to the 1-star, and some of the 2-star, offering help to those customers. This is rare. Even on Newegg it's rare, more common from what I've seen between the 2 sites but over all it's rare.
I'd give companies like that a bonus star just for that.

I would like to see if Doctor Dre's BEATS stand up to my personal taste and scrutiny. There's a pair down the street from me in the pawn shop! Still spendy as hell, over $200 for them there!
