One user posted "What became of Claude’s fate? Is he dead in the GTAIII canon or he alive?" and that's the Rockstar answer: "He certainly isn’t dead. What else became of him, we don’t know. " So I was thinking, Rockstar always answer this kind of question in a loose manner, so why they say Claude CERTAINLY isn't death? They could say "ohh we don't know", and what became of him, we could know in GTA V! Well, Claude lived in San Andreas anyway...... I think he could appear again because he hasn't a very detailed backstory, so it could be more developed! I just hope he doesn't get killed in the game

They said he isn't dead because fans like him so they would let fans down if they said he was dead. Most of the other protagonists (that didn't die in any of the storylines) are probably not dead either.

I am pretty sure though that the old characters won't return in GTA V. I think it's quite likely that V isn't even in the same universe as IV. Will the old characters ever return? I don't know, perhaps in a future remake.

Thats probably not going to happen, though I would like to see III era characters once again, but I doubt that will happen.

Why is it unlikely? Rockstar said millions of times, its the 2D,3D and HD era. HD era is GTA IV, CTW and V.

He won't, GTA V takes place in a different Era to GTA III and SA. That's like saying that Claude Speed is Claude from GTA III.

Please, let's not start another debate on that question. In this Q&A they stated that his surname "may or may not be Speed" so he may or may not be the same guy from GTA 2.

OT: I don't think we'll be seeing anyone from GTA IV anymore, let alone III. It's true that we don't know what happens with Claude after GTA III but we also don't know what happens to Tommy and CJ. That's the beauty of it, you can invent your own stories about what happens to them.

No, it's not flawed.

The Yakuza appeared in GTA 1, and gained much more depth in GTA 2.

Also, in GTA 2, the Hare Krishnas are "tired of being runned over", a clear reference to GTA 1's Gouranga Bonus.

It has been a long time since I played the classics, so these are the only connections I could remember.

But still, you should take in consideration the difference of time of each game, for example, the London Packs has absolutely 0 references to GTA 1, does this mean that they are "in a different era"? No! There's no references due to it being situated in a different city and in a different time period, just like GTA 2.

1961 - London 1961
1969 - London 1969
1997 - GTA 1
2013 - GTA 2

Also, do you seriously belive that Rockstar planned all this "Hur durr were gunna separate or gaymez by cumsole generationz dur"? Obviously not.
That's why Claude from GTA 2 and III are the same person.

It sounds like wishful thinking to me. By that logic GTA 3 could be in the same universe as GTA 2, which is clearly not the case.

Claude is just a recycled character.

It hardly even matters though. If IV and V are in the same universe it doesn't necessarily mean characters from IV will make an appearance in V.
