I really don't think the amount of FPSs is that much different to what it has been with every generation. Before COD there was MOH on PS1/PS2 for example.

As for DLC the only DLC I hate is disk locked. Why do developers put this stuff on the disk if it's intended to be downloaded?

My God, I cant tell you how many FPS games there are. Damn. It seems every single game wants to be the next CoD instead of trying somthing original and be the next big thing. I hate this generation.

If, for some reason, Activison dies or decides to abandon CoD, we will see COUNTLESS FPS games on a daily basis from infinite game companies trying to take its place.

Its not that the game industries dont have original ideas, they most probably do. But they dont risk it because it may not bring them a profit. So they go the FPS route(most of the time).

FPSes aren't too bad, they just became sh*tty after people started whining about how many there were, mostly because the call of duty and battlefield series started releasing games faster. Now you're not cool if you like shooting enemies from a first-person perspective, although you really shouldn't care if what you play is cool. The biggest downside to the FPS genre is that immature 13-year-old boys are one of the most common people you'll find playing the game.

I don't think anyone looking at it from a consumer's perspective thinks DLC is a good thing, but that's how developers make money now. It is their game, and their choice to use it, and I don't think anyone's in a position to tell them to stop. It can be pretty ridiculous though, for example, I want the tomahawk from RDR's legend and killers DLC, but I'm not going to pay $10 just to get it. I have no interest in anything else in the pack, but all I keep hearing about is how awesome the weapon is.

Good news is that if you're a fan of driving, you need not worry;

1. FPS games won't be worth a thing to you.
2. Avoiding EA titles is pretty easy, meaning that horrible DLC plans won't suck you in.
