Anyone else noticed the TERRIBLE pedestrian AI? In that mission where your at some market place, you can shoot your gun into the crowd and ALL the people will just mindlessly run back and forth infront of you, they could have atleast made the civi AI at LEAST half plausible.

Does suck that he has passed though.
He was a great actor.

But apparently not that great of a man.

I plan on getting the HD trilogy (if it ever comes out on PS3)

It's already out.

I've actually just stopped playing it to take a break and check the forums.

Have you updated the game to it's latest version?

On PS3? I thought it had only been released on Xbox 360 so far??

I know that's how he died, I'm a fan of his films.
Especially the Tarantino ones.

I said I wonder how many people will think you're bullsh*tin' I know it's true.
It was some choking thing, you choke yourself before you shoot or something.

No need for all that mate I believe you.. I went to a couple of places and could only see the 360 version.. I also couldn't find any news pertaining to the PS3 version post release online so I figured it was yet to be released on that platform.

I enjoyed Absolution, but I'm not without my gripes.

Cinematic Story Focus
Please, drop it in the next outing. The "cinematic" approach is more harmful to this game than anything else, if you ask me. As a result of this focus, we had far too many levels that were essentially corridors of "Escape the Cops!" in the early part of the game and "Infiltrate this facility!" later on. Not that earlier Hitmans were exempt from this style of level (Graveyard Shift in SA had you sneak around that office complex without having a target to kill), but when the best part of the game is "Escape/Infiltrate", I just don't find it fun. Especially when we have levels like the King of Chinatown, Streets of Hope or Blackwater Penthouse.

Have the story unfold in the background, and don't let it have any more bearing on the actual levels and gameplay than it should. It has worked in previous instalments, so please carry on with this from now on.

Inventory
Bring back the pre-mission equipment screen. Of course, this links into the story focus, as the circumstances of Absolution often mean you can't choose what weapons you bring to the mission. But seeing as 47 seems to have returned to the good ol', Travis-less Agency at the end of Absolution, hopefully the circumstances won't prevent you from choosing your weapons too.

Speaking of equipment...

Drop the 3-upgrade limit on weapons
If I've earned enough dough to have Full-Auto Silverballers with Laser Sights, Level 2 Scopes, Level 2 Silencers, Magnum Ammo and an Extended Clip, then I should be able to use that insane pistol in my ventures. It adds a layer of replayability, allowing you to re-try a mission with more beefy equipment, or even just cut loose and go nuts with insanely-powerful guns. Of course, old things such as "No Silencers if you're using the Long Slide" should come into effect, but don't follow the current constricting standard of limiting upgrades.

Return the Sedative Syringe and Poison Syringe
Okay, so the Sedative Syringe made an appearance, albeit not as frequent as previous instalments. However, the ability to poison/sedate enemies without having to rely on the level having a bottle of rat poison/fugu fish lying about would be nice. "Why return the sedative syringe when you can subdue anyone hand-to-hand?" Well, H2H makes a fair amount of noise, enough to alert an enemy. Have the sedative act as the silent killing fibre wire, except instead of silently killing them, it silently sedates them.

For Contracts mode? Perhaps, as it may make certain Contracts impossible to complete effectively without a fully-upgraded gun.

Otherwise, I had a lot of fun. Graphically, Absolution is astounding. The Challenges are fun (though some could use an actual description instead of just "The Boys in Blue meet Little Boy Blue") and add a lot of replay value to the game.

Yes!
YES!
and
OH f*ck YES!

I HATE the lack of inventory options before the missions.
But as you said it's justified by the situation most of the time.

I HATE the 3 Slot Upgrade Cap, it's feels so much like CoD.
I loved Blood Money having a two Full-Auto, Magnum Round Packed, LongSlides on Blood Money.
Granted I never used them as I went for the Silent Assassin Rank, but there were cool.
I felt the 3 Slots were a step back in the series, also I couldn't find picklock nor armor upgrades..

I loved poisoning foods, I can think of several missions right now when they would've been great.
Especially being able to sedate people via drinks, or donuts. tounge.gif

This is irrelevant. The story shouldn't have such a negative impact on gameplay. There is nothing wrong with having the ability to customize your loadout regardless of the story. It's a game. It should be fun. And it's a Hitman game. It should allow such freedom. I don't think their decision not to have a loadout selection was based on wanting to make the game "realistic". I think it was just one of gazillion terrible design choices.

GTAvanja, I agree entirely. It just links in with my point about Absolution's story-focus harming the game overall - If they weren't so hell-bent on doing a more "personal contract" with Hitman, involving him selling his equipment and instead relying on unsilenced snub noses to "infiltrate" hotels, then we might've had a lot more fun.

A bit of an easier ride? Perhaps. But then again - if you've done well enough to earn enough dough to pimp out your Silverballers, then you've earned the privilege to have a bit of an easier time. If you ask me.

Just beat it. Not my kind of game. I guess I'm too impatient when it comes to stealth. Story didn't interest me much either and the gameplay felt stale after awhile but I love being in different atmospheres/levsls. But that's about it. 7/10.

Yea you guys both made great points about the story messing up the gameplay. I feel like the Contracts Mode tried to make up for that, but failed. I feel like because contracts mode was not connecting to the story, yet used in the same environments, it kind of did not live up to my expectations, especially since you can only select 1 weapon! While I love the use of improvise weapons through out the levels, it should not replace your other weapons.

That also gets me upset about the inventory management. I loved the old inventory layout and management on the previous games, especially BM and Contracts. Lot of the little things missing from Absolution that were in the old games is a big deal for some reason. And when I think about it, there was not really a good variety of improvise weapons, I feel like the ones they put are good, but they got old really fast because they were improperly placed.

But it is still a great game, I am still playing it and trying to get all of the challenges. I think that is one of the better things in the game. Even though it is just a simple score, it still gives some satisfaction from completing them.

As a pretty big hit an fan, I have stayed away from this game.
I've played all since silent assassin, unfortunately I never got to play the original.

But this just feels like they alienated their major fan base and it sucks.

Yes I have not played it, I have no real intention to buy it, and you won't sway me.
I hope they learn from this game who their real fans are and cater to them specifically.
Hitman was never about an easy ride, it was about taking you time and surveying the entire area and all people until you knew what should be done, then putting it into practice.

Not doing it all on the fly, I mean no other game has allowed such a method as staking out your target and environment in such a way. As far as I know.

the only thing I hate about this game, is that it more like an avoid guards game than a stealth game dozingoff.gif
even though Deus Ex HR is not a stealth game but it's more better than this

Absolution does a great job at steering away from almost everything that made previous Hitman games so great.

For those of you who have played this abomination of a game, please try Hitman Blood money or Hitman 2.

Bought the HD collection to recollect old memories, can't get passed Anathema using stealth, and it's on the easiest setting.

Can't remember it being this difficult.
