Paco hangs head

This is a poor example of a "rap and hip hop topic". Out of the 5 sites linked, there's only ONE even worthy to be there, B.I.G.

Decent isn't good, and decent doesn't cut it.

edit: I'm just bitter because the rap topic always ends up talking about Pac, Dre, Eazy-E, or some other west coast sh*t. We need something new to talk about, dammit.

Anybody got any recommendation's for someone looking to find some good music?

I've tried and liked:

MF Doom
Jedi Mind Tricks
Looptroop
Common
Atmosphere
Immortal Technique
Talib Kweli
The Roots
Mos Def
Black Star
Tribe Called Quest
Nas

I know they're pretty much your "mainstream underground hip-hop" artists but since they're the ones most commonly mentioned then I thought I may as well try them out first. smile.gif

Big L, Big Daddy Kane, Big Pun, Run DMC, Public Enemy, Biggie, Wu Tang Clan are some artists/groups I'd recommend you check out. However, your taste in music probably differs to mine.

Anyway, a while back I requested some old-school artists to listen to and I've surprisingly found a liking to a lot of them. I'm gonna head out to the local shop aroud here and see what they have in stock in the "Oldies" section. colgate.gif

Paco, you better stop before you get a PWB. sigh.gif

Again, I like Eazy, but I haven't heard too much of his material outside NWA. Also, I can't find that track Vito mentioned, looks like I'll have to turn to "alternative" choices. sly.gif

Nah, can't say I like Snoop. He's been churning out the same stuff for the past 7 years. No innovation and no attempt to reinvent himself.

Been taking a trip down memory lane. Been buying some old albums I used to listen to. I haven't heard these since I was 12 or 13 (21 now). I got Pauls Boutique by the Beastie Boys, underestimated album I think. I like the fusion of 70's New York soul with hip-hop beats and rapping. Got Licensed to Ill (1986) too. I'm loving the really old-skool drum machine beats.

Now I might get some Jurrasic 5 or KRS One.

Peace out!

Snoop has tried to reinvent himself. He's re-established himself in a mainstream light, which in business and money terms was a smart move. From a music standpoint it's f*cking ridiculous and just downright messed the f*ck up. I hate seeing snoop bopping about with bloody jt, it's a f*cking comedy routine. Still...he tried, he failed, he lost respect from hip hop heads. What a wolly.

Snoop sold out the day he remixed 50's Motherf*ckin PIMP. man, he was the gangstarest anorexic rapper I've ever seen. Doggystyle kicked. I guess money > good flow, and keepin it real.
