Okay, let's pretend you're playing San Andreas. You get annoyed with that ped in San Fierro who wears a blue jacket, shades and a white turban.



So you download a ped mod and decide to replace him. If you're using IMG Tool, for example, it will be very hard for you to determine which one he is. But if you're using TXD Workshop, Ped Editor and the like, it will be very easy for you, and you will see that he's named sbmycr.dff and .txd.

What the hell? Why couldn't they just call him "Joe" or something? This is because "sbmycr" is a code. And I, bugoy, will teach you how to read these codes.


sbmycr


Location

This determines where the ped is most likely found in the State of San Andreas.

C = country
D = desert
S = San Fierro
V = Las Venturas

If the first letter is absent (say, HFYRI or OMOST), the ped is mostly found in Los Santos.

Race

B = black
H = Hispanic
O = Oriental (Asian)
W = white

Gender

F = female
M = male

Age

O = old
Y = young

Miscellaneous Data

The last few letters determine what cars the ped drives, how much money (s)he drops, and whether or not (s)he buys drugs. Here are some examples.

AP = airport staff
BAR = barber
BE = beachgoer
BELL = Cluckin Bell employee
BOUN = bouncer
BOX = boxer
BP = backpacker/hiker
BU = businessman/businesswoman
BURG = Burger Shot employee
CD = cab driver
CH = chauffeur/limo driver
CHIL = chilli dogs vendor
CLOT = clothes shop employee
CON = construction worker
CR = criminal
CRP = croupier
DJ = disc jockey
DRUG = drug dealers (duh)
ELV = Elvis
FR = farmer
GAR = gardener
GOL = golfer
HB = hobo
HP = hippie
ICE = ice cream vendor (clown)
JG = jogger
KARA = karate teacher
KUNG = kung fu teacher
LG = lifeguard
MECH = mechanic
MIB = Men In Black
MOUN = mountain biker
NOOD = noodle vendor
PIMP = pimp (duh)
PIZZ = Pizza Stack employee
PLT = pilot
POL = pool player
PREA = preacher
PRO = prostitute
RI = rich man/woman
RO = roller skater
SCI = scientist
SEC = security guard
SGRD = security guard
ST = street (casual)
STR = stripper
TATT = tatoo artist
TR = tramp
VA = valet
WA = waiter

The names don't define what cars/money/drugs the peds have: the dff+txd name is just an identifier, not a settings file. This ped nameing method has been known for a while: it goes all the way back to GTAIII.

None-the-less: good job making a good explanation for people who don't know.
