EDIT: <Split from another persons trouble topic>
A slight bump but I have a similar problem. Google plucked out this topic for me, lol. Anyways, recently I installed the Windows 8 Consumer Preview and installed GTA SA on it. When I go to the advanced display settings, the max resolution is 1280*768 or something similar. I am on a laptop and my current resolution is set to max i.e. 1366*768. How can I get GTA:SA to achieve this resolution. The same game worked fine on the same computer with Windows 7 installed. Any help is appreciated.

Which version did you buy (V1, V2, V3)?
Are you playing with the Original DVD in the Drive?
Did you modify the game in any way?

This is an Olde Game, many questions can be answered with the FORUM TOOL: SEARCH. Always SEARCH before making a ‘new’ topic.

Which version of the game do you have? If it’s V1, you might need to apply the V1.01 patch before you can use higher resolutions.
Up-grading to V1.01 will affect the ability to Mod the game.

I guess it's V1. I have it for a while now. But the thing is, I am using a no-cd crack as my DVD wasn't in good shape any more. As I said before, I've been using the same version of the game with the same crack for years. The problem could be in either WIN8 (compatibility issue) or in the driver. I didn't install the drivers myself, they were automatically installed.

Sad to say the Forum does not support Cracked games.
We suggest you purchase a new Game Disc, possibly that might cure your problem.

Did you completely uninstall the the previous install of the Game?

You may need to Delete the GTA_SA.set file from your Documents > San Andras folder. reboot and try the game.

I deleted all the GTA:SA files I could. I deleted the folder in My Documents as well. I also double-checked if there are any files left in Program Files (x86)

Revo Uninstaller (Thanks to Girish)

See if there are any Registry data left. Also, did you delete the folder or did you uninstall the game from Add and Remove programs?

I KNOW HOW TO USE THE COMPUTER! lol, seriously, stop it. I know how to uninstall a software.

And yes, I used Add or Remove Programs to uninstall it, deleted the folder in My Documents and confirmed there weren't any files left over in the Program Files folder.
