I don't know if should buy GTA:SA for XBOX or for PC. I have the money for 1. Here's the deal, I'd love to mod it, but my PC is kind of old (
  • 384 RAM
  • 40GB HD
  • P4 2.4GHz
  • Nvidia GeForce 4 MX 64MB (really old)
)

And if I'd wanted to mod the xbox version I would have to save the 4GB in the xbox HD, and I have just 2GB free (cause I have VC in it).

So it goes like this: Performance/Graphics vs Modability...

What you think

I'd say you need a more RAM (512 is minimum) and a better video card if you want to play it on PC.

I'd save my money and go with the Xbox version.

I have pretty much the same specs (apart from I have 512 RAM) and the same card. And San Andreas on PC should work fine. Half Life 2 works perfectly with full on specs and 4xAA. But since the G4 MX440 is only a Direct X 7 card, it looks like crap without drawn shadows and water reflections.

Should be upgraded to a 9600XT and 1024 RAM before SA hits the PC though. I'd also suggest you upgrade the card and RAM. As most games now only support DirectX 8 and up and are looking like they'll soon be using over a gig of RAM.

Go with it for PC if you can upgrade that RAM. If not, get it on the 'box.

I've had one of those GF4 MX440' 64MB before, and I think you'd be fine playing SA. There may be a few points where the performance may be a bit sluggish, but not bad, you can always upgrade your computer later too. Plus, the PC version will be able to use mods and will be better looking even with a less than perfect video card. I vote yay for a PC purchase.

I'd go with the PC version, you can always upgrade later and it shouldn't run that badly on your setup, and of course the mods make it worth twice as much IMO.

Get a Directx 9 , yes NINE card.

Not sure about nVidia , but dx0 cards for ATI start with the 9550 models.

go get a 9800pro or xt.

then you won't need more RAM. At least for GTA:SA.

I wouldn't go so high as 1024 of RAM though.. I did so and it didn't make a big difference (from 512) on most games, but mae a HUGE difference in the beefy games like Far Cry *drool*, Doom 3 and HL2.

Either way, go with PC.

I say that purely for the MODS that will come out.

Only 20 days left.

Gdo damnit.

I'll be needing $100 more for a gfx card.... that means more time before I can play SA for real (PS2 gfx really let me down)

Exactly, you don't need so much... RAM are extremely cheap now and you can have a great video card for about 100$

playero mow your neighbor's lawn or something to get more money cause it will be worth it.
Go for PC version m8.
just my opinion.

Do not get a 6200. Save up money for a 6600 or 6600 GT.
