Anyone know of what engine sound file contains the police cars? Because I want to try and put in a new crown victoria sound.

tried changing the patriot's sound but couldnt find it in vehicles.ide, is there another way to change its sound?

The car souds are on pc/audio/sfx/streamed_vehicles.rpf(you need sparkIV to open it)
patriot belongs to car sound group muscle 4(i think) you just find good .wav files and replace them with ivaud.
I'm working on total car sound replacement and I need some help.First, if someone knows which car belongs to which sound group(like 4 cylinder sports is blista and futo) please tell me so I can be more accurate at this.Second, I need some sounds for choppers and other bikes.

i've made a list of what file is what car's sound
i made it gradually while modding sounds myself
though never got time to finish it yet
vehicles.ide has nothing to do with that except for determining the ingame name of a car and it's sound
but the .ivaud files are still the ones that actually contain the sound
i found the most of them
everything except for boats but they are mostly properly named
i also found 2 or 3 unused files which i'll use to reduce the size of my sound mod pack later on
i have also found TBOGT vehicle sounds
just forget vehicels.ide

Sorry josh only gta 4 can be modified on pc, mods arent possible on consoles.

Anyway i wish someone would make a real life sounding engine pack as the default sound terrible. Im driving a ferrari 599xx and im hearing some crappy electric lawnmower sound. Totally ruins the game, i would pay someone to do it in fact.

I bet its tedious, ive done some modding before on other games (oblivion,fallout 3) and know how much time you have to put in. I have got quite a ear for car siunds and can easily tell two ferraris apart. I know the default game has made up versions of these cars but still the engine noises are appaling. What sort of cars have you replaced? Im not very familiar with the workings of gta 4 atm so couldnt attempt this myself.

i work with stock
though i did try carpacks but i turns out still don't have a good enough pc so i gave up
anyway
i can only make 1 ferrarri sound since many cars share the sound
though turismo has a unique sound and so do coquette and feltzer and some other cars
others share sounds so you gotta compromise
i wasn't goingfor the real
nor for the perfect as gta has bulit in sound shaders so it alters the sound and it's impossible to prodecit how it will sound at first
so lots of tests are required
that's why i didn't want realistic but something new
i might finally finish it though as i got the new software
in order to produce 1.5 secs of 1 sound i need like 4 apps
so that' annyoing
and to make it perfect i'd need to use equalizers and split sounds which is something i don't want to do at this point

Thank you for sending this and that does help, but Im still stuck on my other question. How can I change the sounds for the Supercar to Fast3 for example.

I can change all the sounds, names, but I cant change the names within the file. Therefore they dont work.

So hows this work?

Guys I have a problem. I installer a Lamborghini Reventon cop car as a noose patrol. Changed the car sound name to infernus where it should be changed, but nothing happens. I still have the original cruiser sound. The name does not changes either.. Any suggestion?
