Hello all,

I recently purchased San Andreas from Steam. (V1)

Now I am not new to modding in GTA SA, but this has never happened to me before.

When I rebuild the GTA3 IMG file with custom .dffs and .txds, the game will not start.

More specifically, when I double click GTA_SA.exe, nothing happens, but the process is still recognized as "running" in the windows task manager. If I double click agian, it will say that it is already running.

I am running Windows 7.

Any help is appreciated biggrin.gif

I have some bad news for you.
Steam is Version 3. It is not modable.
You need to buy the DVD (V2) and downgrade it for modding.

However, our resident expert says:

V3 is exactly like V2 as far as modding goes-ie. Script mods work great, whereas mods that involve you editing files will not work...The ONLY difference is that V3 is not downgradeable like V2 is....I have tried the same script mods on V3(the Steam version) that I tried on V2-ie. Dem's Mission Passer and Pillager code tools, the Real-names mod, and OrionSR's .ipl mod for the Chain Game armories, and they all work great.

ALSO:
The San Andreas Forum is for UN-modded game questions, and problems.
In Your haste to post You must have missed the Bottom Main Menu choice for MODDING. And obviously the Banner lettering:
Modding questions belong in THE MODDING FORUMS!
Where You click on the underlined words. icon14.gif That’s where You can find Players who ARE dedicated Modders, they are more likely to give You some assistance! smile.gif
Be careful to post in the correct forum topic, as they can get persnickety about that.
