Hi guys. Im in the market for a good gaming laptop with a budget of $1000 give or take. I want my computer to run GTA 4 on medium to high settings and also run Arma 2 and maybe battlefield. I dont need some great top of the line graphic settings just a good FPS on these games and be able to run it without in game lag. I would like 15 to 17" screen. I prefer a full keyboard with numpad but im ok without. I been stuck with crappy computers and laptops all my life I wanna buy a laptop "the right one" just for this game been dieing to play it on the PC for months maybe a year. I really wanna build a desktop computer but I travel for work so I cant have a desktop.

Any suggestions or recommendations? I would appreciate any ! I been looking at a few at best buy I will post links below

Well, for one, I wouldn't buy at bestbuy.

I really never recommend laptops for gaming, but some of these should be OK, albeit it's a bit over your budget

You should stick around a bit more, there are more experienced people who can give you their take on this issue.

I agree laptops normally isnt the best gaming machine out there but I could use a desktop in the truck I drive but would probably eat the batteries up pretty quick im sure would have to use my generator haha

I work over the road and im home 5 to 7 days a month give or take. Laptop is kinda my only choice im thinking.

But the laptops you posted are over my budget but a couple hundred more isnt a deal breaker.

I suggested those as for $200 extra you get a decent gaming GPU, instead of that 640 garble.

Gaming laptops IMO are a gamble. If you wan a laptop for gaming specifically then don't get the Samsung dell acer etc. crap. Get a origin you could also consider an
ASUS ROG (republic of gaming) laptop. They are quite good and have good reviews pc power play reccomends . But within you're budget you probably couldn't afford. Origin IMO is the your only if you're willing to spend more.

You really can't expect to run gta 4 medium on a laptop anyway and with a 1k laptop I doubt you can even run low. Plus arms 2 even on low will be choppy with the laptops you recommended. However if you get a tower than you can get a lot more bang for you're buck as space is not a problem. Running gta 4 on "mid to high" would just be Way too much on a 1000$ laptop.

My advice save up money, buy a tower or
If you want a gaming laptop get a origin. ( I reccomend origin)

Disclaimer - if you are going to gets "gaming laptop" try to get a "new" post 2011 model as the laptops before then where a complete waste of money

ALSO ANOTHER BIG DISCLAIMER. When looking at a graphics card don't Assume that a graphics card with a lot of memory aka 1 gig dedicated is good. It's a marketing gimmick to draw in beginner pc buyers. I once fell for it, you shouldn't make the same mistake. It costs around 25 bucks to add more memory and tbh it ain't do much.

Overthebelow - hates me for mentioning Alienware and Dell being from a different brand and not knowing lol. So you shouldn't consider that anymore lol.

Alienware is Dell you complete and utter prune. Way to contradict yourself. Dell (meaning, Alienware as well) computers are infamously overpriced, so going for them wouldn't be a great idea unless you have the money to waste on tech that isn't worth the pricetag. Origin seem to have better prices upon my first look, but I don't have much knowledge about them.

Acer make pretty fair laptops for gaming at really good prices, so if you're on a tight budget and you're not looking for top-end gaming laptops then you should definitely look at some Acers. I have a $900 Acer laptop that runs GTA4 at medium-high, 1366x768 at a solid 30fps, so please stop talking out your ass.

@tater259: The third laptop you linked is the best spec - you'll run games smoothest on that and ironically it's the cheapest. Goes to show that certain brands price their laptops higher for no reason other than their reputation as a company. Medium-high should certainly be possible at 1600x900.

HP DV4t-5100
i5 3210M
GT 650M w/ 2GB GDDR5 RAM
4GB RAM
500GB HDD

for $820. Not too bad of a deal in my opinion. You bump up the specs a bit more considering you have an extra 180 to use or you can use your extra money on something else. Your choice.

Yeah I know that, that's why I don't recommend entirely. I think everything Dell is crap with past experience. I go for origin in the first place. I have actually used a origin before and it's quite good. Pretty quiet and a ok battery life.
Alienware does sound gimmicky I guess, does the job though.

Sure you can call me a "complete utter prune" For not knowing that alien ware is Dell. Never owned an alien ware. I guess thanks for the info. Yeah "sorry" for contradicting myself.

Ok I won't talk out of my ass next time lol.

Sorry for not knowing better.
Time to do some more research.
