Evening all,

I am currently running a 570 GTX which seems to be having some issues regarding heat. It is currently idling around 52 degrees at zero usage. 10 minutes into Furmark and it's reaching peaks of 92 degrees. I rang up my supplier and they quoted me around a month waiting time for the RMA. (Which I think is f*cking pathetic) so I am at a loss here. I have replaced the thermal paste to no avail and made sure that airflow is not the problem. Is their any other steps I should take or should I put my old 8800GTX back in and send off the card ? I know it can operate at these temperatures but the fan noise is pissing me off, reaching 90% in games such as Max Payne 3.

My other option is wait it out, endure the fan noise and wait for the 700 series to uprgade. Is this a feasible option or are the 700 series a long way off ?

You could just not run FutureMark? The load it puts on your GPU is far and above that which it gets in normal gaming. Keep an eye on temps when you are gaming, ensure they stay under about 90. If you have issues, then swap out.

That is indeed a lot, but not an uncommon problem. Which card do you have exactly? (Brand etc.)
It could just be that the cooling of the card is crap, but for some money you can easily replace it with third party coolers. I don't even think you have a faulty card.

Could be a problem with the card itself, make sure you also got a proper airflow into the case along with a cable management. wink.gif

Thanks for the suggestions. I have looked into third party cooling, if I get it online I get a 7 day return policy so I should be able to send it back if does nothing. Sivis, Furmark is maximized load, I think it's the best stress testing software out there. It goes 90+ in that which is worrying, though no game comes close. Narcis, my cable management while not fantastic is decent enough and I have ran the test with the board out of its case which acquired similar results so I don't think airflow is an issue.

I think I am just going to have to try third party cooling, if that doesn't work then just bite my tounge and deal with the fan noise. Dropping back down to an 8800 GTX that artifacts a little just sounds like a 1st world nightmare.

~90C in Furmark doesn't seem too much out of ordinary for this card.
