| Adding Custom tattoo's in San Andreas |
|---|
The tools you'll need TXD workshop (tutorial made with 3.5, will also work with newer versions) Download SA GXT editor Download
| 1) Making the Tattoo You can do this in 2 way's : 1) make a new TXD 2) adjust my txd
i'm going to explain way 2, because that's the easy way to make a tattoo. Download Sergiow.txd LINK Open it with txd-workshop, you'll see a black image, when you click on alpha, you'll see "Sergiow" if you want a black tattoo, you only need to adjust the alpha :
Click on alpha/mask, then click on export. open the exported file with paint, photoshop,... and edit it. This is a picture so you can see where you're tattoo will be :
everything that's white will show up on CJ.
save it as BMP/tga and import it in the txd be sure that alpha/mask is selected when you import your mask!
click on "alpha mix view" (in txd-workshop) to check if you did it right
Now you have a txd with your own tattoo, now rename it, i named mine Sergiow.txd Add it to player.img

| 2) Editing Shopping.dat : Part 1 Open GTA San Andreas\data\shopping.dat with notepad.
Go to +- line 520 and there are the tattoos. This are the code's for where the tattoo should come: # 4 = left upper arm # 5 = left lower arm # 6 = right upper arm # 7 = right lower arm # 8 = back top # 9 = left chest # 10 = right chest # 11 = stomach # 12 = lower back now make a new line in your shopping.dat (mine is +- line 530) like this :
| CODE | | Sergiow SERGIOW 8 - respect 9 sexy 9 835 |
Sergiow => name of the TXD (step 1) SERGIOW => you can choose this, you'll need it in step 4 8 => back top => a tattoo on CJ's back respect 9 sexy 9 => respect and sexy 835 => price
PICTURE (picture of barton mission editor, you can just use notepad)
| 3) Editing Shopping.dat : Part 2 Go to +-line 1020. there are 3 "sections" of tattoo's. here you can choose where you want the tattoo (los santos, las venturas,...). the 1st section is los santos, the second san fierro and the third las venturas. just add "item name of TXD" like this :
PICTURE (my tattoo is in los santos, san fierro and las venturas)
| 4) Editing the name of your tattoo open "GTA San Andreas\text\american.gxt" with "GTA: San Andreas GXT Editor 1.2" Pick Entry -add
then it asks a "new name" In step 2 (shopping.dat) you made a new line :
| CODE | | Sergiow SERGIOW 8 - respect 9 sexy 9 835 |
the "SERGIOW" needs to be the new name in your GXT-editor Then on the right you type the name of your tattoo
 | 5) The picture you see when you buy a tattoo Open GTA San Andreas\models\txd\LD_TATT.txd make a little image (64*64) of your tattoo. in TXD workshop => image=> new after that you import your mini-tattoo double-click on you're mini-tattoo on the left and click on compressed
 | This is what you'll get : http://users.myonline.be/~tdn24073/tat/7.JPG
Now play GTA, if it doesnt work, just ask

Great job, I'm gonna' try this. Someone should make a tool to import custom tattoos, would make life a lot easier.

Hey chief. I just signed up to the boards because of this thread, but I did have a question to you. You see, I used a derived image from this site for the tribal wings to make it a back tattoo. All went rather well, aside from perhaps two things, one of which I may already have the solution to. The problem, you see, is this: the back tattoo seems to cancel out the visibility of any arm tattoos. CJ still has them, but they just aren't visible. Quite a pickle, because I was rather happy with those large wing-like things Could you perhaps help a guy out? If needs to be, I could send the .BMP and .TXD for you to review. Most likely through e-mail, I guess.

Most likely through e-mail, I guess. | Zip them up and send them to me (xtremeunknown@hotmail.com since the email I use here [my Army email address] doesnt support zip files). I will gladly look at them and help you out to the best of my abilities.
