Having the protagonist die goes against the whole open world and non-linear mechanics of the game. It would be lame to kill him off and yet continue to play as him after the story so you can go about all the side stuff you haven't finished, so I doubt we'll ever see a GTA protag die in his own game.

This...it's too lame (IMO) to even think of a protagonist's death in his first game.

We grow to love a character and killing him off doesn't seem right.

We expect this to happen now so Rockstar wont do it. They will do it with games like Red Dead Redemption because they are more experimental games.

No I don't think it fits with the game. It doesn't make sense. Normally if you die, you just show up outside the hospital and continue. And now for one time you really die? That's silly. That has always been a GTA hallmark and I don't want it changed.

Great point. I'm also fuzzy on the logistics of transitioning to a new protag. Does the new protag inherit the last protag's contacts, weapons, safe houses, businesses, and other assets? This immersion killer could potentially ruin GTA.

AW no, please no. I really-really liked how it was in other GTA games. I love getting known to the character thru the game. The character makes us think his way, not the way it's in RPG. One character is enough, there's no need for more protagonists. I'm not talking about DLCs or other add-on sh*t. I'm talking about V, not any "episodes", or anything.

No, don't repeat this. It's against GTA convention anyway.

I don't want R* to make this a trend, we've seen this in a few games so far (Won't mention them for spoilers), if they do it in 5 GTA's from now I have no problem with it but not every 2 games

It depends on the protag. Like someone earlier said too me if its the balcony guy I wouldnt care as much . It all goes into character preference.

The bold new direction is 2 protagonists - conjoined twins.

I kind of wish Rockstar would stop doing this crap. I want to play as one guy. That's it.

It can be a running inspiration of the story.

So lets say, the first mission the protagonist dies by someone.

You play as someone related to him, work your way up for money, become popular.

Then the same people who killed the 1st protag decide to kill you.

So, then you found out that he's the one who killed the 1st protagonist, so you kill him.

I know it sounds lame, but this is the best I can pull out of my ass at the moment.

Meh.

Well, the idea is play as someone else after the death of the main character.

Everyone that has completed the storyline of Red Dead Redemption is now playing as Jack Marston.

There was already a thread like this but it got deleted by a mod.

I think that would never happen, it is one of the few certainties we have, the lead character ends up always doing great, the game progression leads the character forward, things keep getting better and that is one of the main factors behind the feeling they try to create.
