Grand Theft Auto III Special Extended Edition




My goal with this project is restore GTAIII, and do whatever i can to match the game with the rest of the IIIera..

Here is my plan:


1- Color correct the entire game
2- Replace low quality textures with the most higher source available
(I'm already using Xbox version mod, but it still needs so many tweaking to be done)
3- Fix brightness of some textures or adding some color in to them
4- Restore some features and map objects from all existing 5 versions of the game
5- Making every interior accessible and adding new interiors to the game

6- Since every IIIera game using really clean textures with the vehicles (except III and VC, and their vehicles look awful), i want GTA3 cars to look really close to LCS/VCS/SA vehicles. (Also this includes car colors to be edited to match with other games to)

I may add more to the list later..

Btw, i will do whatever i can with to match GTAIII with rest of the GTA3era, but i always respect the game the way it is. So, i won't make any change/restoration that would destroy the feeling and your experience with the game

I'm waiting for your comments and ideas..

Here is the list of the models of DimZet13, which are used by SPECIAL EDITION;

* XBOX GTA III Vehicles (all of the cars converted by him, specially those with windshields) Remaining cars are converted from original SAN ANDREAS
* Interiors (I took all interiors exist in Snow City) But the rest are converted from original VICE CITY and MANHUNT
* Collisions (Since DimZet13 perfected all the collisions, i use all of them too.)

I think this will be MUCH better if you worked with pearcy. He's doing a great job with the III HD mod. Nonetheless, nice progress, loved the textures at the first pic. icon14.gif

UPDATE:

Timecycle is now updated and brighter than the original. Also, dont mind the hud, its only temporary.

[color=orange]1- High quality (2x more quality) Mean Street Taxis Billboard and Men's Public Restroom (Belleville Park) textures restored from Manhunt..
Also, Men's Public Restroom's camera now fixed.
2- Ammu-Nation stores are now owned by Phil Cassidy and he works in them. Also the camera fixed for the store so it wont be stuck at only one angle. Also there is no loading screen while entering exiting to any interior in the game
3- Subway and Tunnels are opened from the start

Imposibru! Look at GTA 4 for example: even though its graphically better than III, people are still converting maps, characters, vehicles, etc. from GTA 3 and into GTA 3!

i didn't said that the game already died. i'm just simply pointing out that the game needs a touch to live more, and i'm willing to do what i can to do with it.

I prefer more GTA III than GTA4. I know GTA4 is graphically better but it's a 2008 game.
That's why GTA4 looks better but GTA4 is not a good game imo.
GTA III has a nice envoirenments and atmosphere and it fits perfectly in GTA III.

OmeXr, it's been a long time ago since I've played GTA III but I'll never forget it.
I still play GTA SA and GTA4 is more dying for me than GTA III.

I disagree harshly, I love the dirt on VC's vehicles, it's like a nice AO map that shows off details nicely while the cars in later games are very plain looking.

* All of the interiors, subway stations and tunnels are open from the start. Also, you can enter them without loading screens.

* I'm thinking of placing Mickey Hamfist at the front door of Sex Club 7 as himself, a bodyguard. Also some people to be going in to the club in the night time.

* If i can do it, there will be a triad member working in Mr Wong's Laundry, since its a normal enterable interior now.

* I will add some props to the interiors aswell. There is no point of calling empty rooms as interiors. And last of the updates, i will turn Joey's garage to a tuning shop for cars and Joey will be working in the background all the time. The script is ready as cleo, i just have to finish it.

That all would be really cool. It would bring more life to the game.

I'm glad you're making a new timecyc. The old one was depressing. Are you directly basing it on New York City? NYC isn't as depressing as usually depicted. (At least in the warmer months)

actually, we dont need any timecycle editing. i have my own enb series setting that makes gta3 more brighter than lcs itself. so the timecycle doesnt really matters at this point..

new map objects added to game from VC (i would be really happy if someone would convert some of Manhunt objects too. Because they are perfect for GTAIII atmosphere)

BUS STOP (Currently, only 10 of them are placed in the map. But its only portland right now. NEXT: Punk Noodles and Expresso 2 Go stands will be placed in the map.)

The ENB settings are way too bright; you need to adjust them so they don't look weird.
