Hi! Since I'm not a modeller or something, I find it difficult to use Autodesk 3ds Max. So, using Google Sketchup, I can create a city very quickly. So, I would like to know if it is possible to export models from GTA IV (Open IV) to Google Sketchup (just to scale my models, so a bulding doesn't turn out to be giant), and from Google Sketchup to GTA IV (Open IV). I know it's possible, since some modellers here use Google Sketchup.

I think they import gta models into max, then export into sketchup.

Similarly, they probably exported sketchup to max, then to iv.

This is the only known way if you really want to use sketchup.

So, I just need a way to export Sketchup models to max. This time, GIMS won't help because it doesn't work with Sketchup (anyway, I've had enough with GIMS, thinking in all the problems I had with it).

GIMS is so far the only way to completely get a working custom made model into the game though I am afraid. GIMS is not really too troublesome to get working though, just keep posting problems on the GIMS thread and someone will oughta help you out. Good luck though. smile.gif

This exactly.

Also if you're making gta maps then ditch sketchup as there's a chance it will only create more problems in the future. (collision bugs, invisible walls, lighting bugs etc)
The standard and best method is to learn 3dsmax and use that to model and export your objects with GIMS+OpenIV, it's not impossible to learn; have a look on youtube for tutorial vids. (thats how i personally learned how 3dsmax works and how GTAIV exporting works)
