How should body armor work in GTA V?

GTA IV or Max Payne 3?

I actually want the vest to be visible, for a change.

Well I agree. BUT you should have the option to wear it under you shirt. Not like in gta 4 like make it noticable but out of sight

Should be similar to GTAIV in my opinion. Considering body armor does degrade after so many hits, its somewhat more realistic.

Seems people are extremely split on this issue. Im all for visible armor, even if it doesn't have the realistic properties like in MP3. And yes you should be given the option of it being hidden or visible. A simple option in a menu could resolve this argument and make both parties happy.

Visible Armor - ON OFF
Car Top - UP DOWN
Turn Signals - ON OFF

Just a second though: While armor in general should stay as it is, I think it might be cool to have a mission or two featuring some visible, extra heavy armor, see the North Hollywood shootout, maybe having this heavy armor being purchasable after said mission.

The body armour should make you, the player impervious to weaker weapons like pistol in the chest, but take a small amount of damage (similar to getting punched). The same should go for AI, as this would change up the gameplay a bit.

No. Why ruin that??? You can already get killed in less shots than in GTA's before IV. It would just ruin it.

In MP3 I liked how you could see the bullet holes/sparks when you shot someone with a vest biggrin.gif . Body armor should be like IV, but I want the vest to be visible and have the above features.

I think that rather than just being a second health bar it should be like MP3, except when you're shot in the chest by weaker weapons like a Glock with armor on you barely take any damage. Body armor needs to be able to stop bullets, but it also shouldn't be forever.

Wow, I'm surprised how even the results are. I prefer MP3's more realistic style though because it is less predictable.

I like it in GTA IV. Don't see why it needs to be changed.

Different kinds of armour would be cool.

You could have discreet, thin armour that could be work under the clothes, but this would only grant 25/50% more health. Regular armour that would be worn over the clothes but would grant the standard 100% extra health.
Heavy armour, comprising bulkier vest and upper leg pads that would grant 150% extra health, but make the player slightly slower/less mobile.

In addition, it should become visibly damaged in accordance with how much fire you take. When it is fully damaged and no longer useful, it'll just be hanging off you and will either fall off on it's own accord or when you stop for a few seconds the character will pull it off and drop it.

If Rockstar is not going to fix the plaguing turbo problem present among GTA 4 veterans then they need to give you more health or decrease the damage of bullets, because it's too easy to kill people as it is when you can shoot 27 bullets a second. I think they should allow for 3 head shots rather than 2, because it allows for more skill to be present in the game.
