ehh... just a question, does anyone knows how tall is the tallest building in downtown VC?
on gta wiki I saw like a list of tallest buildings in III era, Jefferson St. Credit Union building being the tallest in GTAIII at 1 433,7 ft and LS Tower at 1,040 ft in GTA SA.

It is the building that resembles Southeast Financial Center in real life Miami.
I don't know how tall it is in ft in the actual game.

Yep.

I remember seeing it in many Miami Vice episodes plus in the opening credits. cool.gif
Completed in 1984, the same year Vice hit the air airwaves, yeah.

To me it looks like a mix of the one u said and the Miami Tower, especially the layout of the windows and the base of the building.
Still I wonder how they measured those in III and SA, 3ds or Zmodeler? too bad I have my VC on PS2 and I'm not fancy buying it for my laptop just to measure it hehe, anyways you guys think it's close to the one in GTA III?

You may be able to get an "estimate" of the in game height with the low gravity cheat and a tank.... as long as the game still gives you stats for jumps with the cheat on.... I have "flown" the tank by turning on this cheat and reversing the turret and firing--- fly up to the height of the top of the building and then dive back to the ground and see if you get jump stats--- note the maximum height when you land.

You can fly above the tank higher then the maximum heli height in the game.

FYI--- the building is not solid up near the top--- I have actually flown down inside of it, although it has been ages since I did this.

that's a good idea Spuds I'll try that in VC and VCS, maybe the roof will be solid there.
Anyways thanks, maybe I will get the height of that thing, who knows maybe it will be taller that the Jefferson St. Credit Union building from III, and if the method works I could measure all VC buildings (well the taller ones anyway)

What an utter waste of time doing that. The building is 360 meters tall. The one in GTA III is 435 meters.

Yes, that was the year VCS is set in, however, VC is set in 1986. tounge2.gif

I don't know if it's just me or what, but it seems like a lot of the buildings are taller in VCS than they were in VC? confused.gif A good example of that is the Mendez building(where the final mission takes place in VCS)-as seen in the picture above, it looks shorter than in VC? There must be a height limit you can go to, as I can usually barely get on top of the Stadium with a heli...

I was talking about the Southeast Financial Center and Miami Vice, pal :-)

Southeast Financial Center was completed in 1984, the same year that Miami Vice hit the airwaves.

How did you found out the height of the building?
I love VC but they should put more skyscrapers in the downtown area, then again Miami in the 80's didn't had as many skyscrapers like these days but still more than Vice.
And the Jefferson St. Credit Union is 437,6m according to GTA Wiki so you where off by 2,7m hehe

It could (and has been by many) be argued that anything video game related is a waste of time... confused.gif

I measured it by popping up a map editor and assumed 1 unit equals 1 meter. To me, when an action that could be done quicker using other methods, I see that action as a chore.

The Mendez building doesn't exist in 1986, it was demolished in either 1984 or 1985 because Vic bombed and machine-gunned the sh*t out of half the building, which would probably make it structurally unsafe.

After further observing I have to say that the Miami Tower was the inspiration for this building, especially the rear view of it.
Not the Southeast Financial Center which is in the background.

Though not as high and without the front half oval shape it's very similar.
