| QUOTE (Mr.Mister @ Monday, Oct 8 2012, 20:45) | | Does this count as sleep paralysis? I woke up staring at the roof, heartrate slower than usual and was unable to move. I was able to think about anything as if I was awake. It was like my brain was awake but the rest of my body was asleep. I thought about turning over, so I moved. The slightest move and I got this electric shock running through my body and my whole body just twitched. It felt really uncomfortable but then I felt fine | Yes, that is indeed sleep paralysis. I have also experienced that electric shock as well while attempting to move. | QUOTE | | You don't want to experience it, apparently. People who have, even if they triggered it on their own, going in knowing what to expect, say that it's a hellish experience. |
That's not entirely true. If your mind is set on having a hellish experience, will most likely will but, if you just let it happen, it's like the experience Mr.Minster described.

Alright, I guess that makes sense, but just like with any other sleep-trick you should probably be completely confident with yourself before you just 'let it happen', it's a lot more difficult than it sounds. | I understand what you mean and it is hard and does take effort, but with effort, comes results and you can learn from them. | QUOTE | | I would love however, to have an OOB. I have tried, and failed many times. |
You don't fail if you attempt, you only fail when you don't attempt. That's were doubt comes into the topic, but you need to have confidence, otherwise it will never happen. Humans are built in like any other animal. We have reality and fantacy, and these laws that seem to be instinct to us. If humans never had doubt, it'd be a very dangerous world. If you have no doubt, chances are you have no fear. But every human that has ever lived has had doubt. Look, I'm not saying it's a good thing nor a bad thing, as it has it's positives and negatives but if we just push ourselves that extra when trying to OBE, and pass all that doubt and questions, that's when you hop into the drivers seat.

I doubt it is not surprising, how you sleep will affect you the in the morning and maybe for half of the day. I somewhat often get those moments, where I feel like Im falling, and my body just jerks. Not to mention, I had one similar last night, altogether my sleep was not that great last night. I normally like the idea of dreaming, because it is interesting, but man last night, it just felt like a total wreck..Ironically I remember at least half of the dream and the entire dream was a wreck. I was on a train that was crashing in multiple directions and began flooding with water.. But anyway, when I woke up, I felt like I could of been getting sick like a cold, my voice was scratchy, not to mention I did not really feel like I slept much. So for half the day, my head feels foggy, the weather is cold and rainy and left me with mild depression. Any thoughts? Could the weather change affect my sleeping patterns and my mood? One could think so.. Another strange thing that happens, sometimes I am thinking about things while I am sleeping. Not dreaming, just coming up with crazy thoughts that I never would of thought if I was awake.. Sorry if it sounds like Im rambling on about my day, It just happens that it fits this topic a bit . All pretty interesting stories though.

Had another SP last night, or early in the morning. It was longer than the first two, but not frightening at all. I was having a dream about Danny from Full House (Bob Saget). Lol. If I remember correctly, he was standing next to a light bulb (?!), turning it on and off and talking about how, when in a dream, anything our mind comes up with becomes true... I think he was actually talking about sleep paralysis. So I woke up, my eyes were heavy again and I think my right eye wasn't even open. I THINK I saw a white figure on my balcony for like 0.3 seconds, but I'm 80% sure it was actually in the dream with Danny and not during the SP itself. I wasn't very aware of my surroundings, lol. It all get's mixed up in your memory. I think my parents were already up as I think I could see light coming from the kitchen or the bathroom. I did hear some noise, like kicking or bumping, but I knew (yes, literally knew) that it was just me. Come to think of it, I think it was the drizzle / rain we had this morning, "hitting" the window. I kept trying to think about and visualize flowers in my room in order to avoid negative hallucinations. It might sound cliche / too casual to believe / stupid, but it's true. I also remember thinking about methods to lucid dreams and OBEs (but not really trying them out) and keeping my eyes closed during like half of the SP... These things are really great!

I was meaning to write an experience that occured on Saturday morning, IIRC. I had went to bed around 10PM and probably feel asleep an hour after. The time between when I feel asleep and when I awoke at 2-3AM was a distant memory.
I heard noises very vaguely. Quiet and harmless noises; shuffling. It was still very dark, and a figure lurked past my doorway, heading towards the living room. I was laying on my back, I relaxed my muscles. I was on the border line of sleep when... I became aware of my state. Just as I thought that, my feet and legs slowly dulled numb.
The numbness was slowly moving upwards... past my knees, around my thighs. I tried to move my feet but no hope. The numbness oozed up my neck; vocals now paralysed. I felt my face go numb, as well as my nose. I had trouble breathing, and then panic followed. Next thing I notice, is the pulse in my eardrum is pulsating loudly.
It's the only thing I can here... bo-boom, bo-boom, bo-boom.
Everything faded to black, calmly. I woke up a few hours after, remembering the entire experience vividly.

I was asleep on my back, and I looked to the left with just my eyes and saw a white floating see through ghost-type thing and as I rose up I was 100% speechless I couldn't even call my brothers who I share the room with my voice just went, and the thing got close to me instantly and I then woke up sweating quite badly. Really weird sh*t.
