You could have really done better on the processor...

Please tell me this wasn't custom built confused.gif

Anyways, it should run pretty well on medium high. If the processor was better then you may be able to run it on max depending on your resolution..

No, I had a good computer but the video card was utter crap, And the pc was too small for upgrade. So i got a bigger case and bought a new card, new mainboard, and new power supply, then transfered the rest of the old parts to my new case, and used those new parts.
So it was'nt built from scratch.
Also, is my ram fine, or would that need an upgrade?
And any reccomendations for proccessors?

RAM is fine. Something like a Phenom II X4 965 with a 4 GHZ overclock would definitely be good. If you had the money, I'd just tell you go with an Ivy Bridge i5 and a new 1155 board but then again, not everyone has 300-350 to throw at an upgrade. Something from the X4 or X6 line will be good. Overclock it and you'll get better performance too

OP: Try medium and the console equivalent settings for view distance, level of detail and traffic density and see how performance is and if it is good, then crank things up little by little (increments of 5).

The big myth is PC players "must" run GTA IV with everything maxed out.

That's just plain stupid because not only is this a horribly optimized port, but because there is no real visual difference past 30 (view, LOD, traffic density) and all they are doing is wasting CPU cycles for things they CAN'T see that could go to rendering more frames per second...

See my card is Superclocked, and my Mainboard has 1 sec overclocking. I have a program to overclock my card (EVGA Percision), But Im afraid to overclock because i dont want to fry my new pc. Do you think it would be safe to?

Look at some tutorials first, they're plenty of them all over Youtube. As long as you don't screw up, it should be fairly easy, especially since the Black Editions have an unlocked multiplier.

for gta iv, probably high/very high settings. with q6600 + gtx 285 @ 1920x1200, high settings if i recall correctly. set your vehicles slider to 1 and your shadows to low.
